Pre-turbo exhaust question...

OK, I have my mind made up on Tom's stage one kit, so I'm looking at my options for my exhaust system. I'm not sure what to do as far as the header is concerned; I'm considering the full SVT header kit from McNew's (and yes, I know the header is going to be replaced by the turbo manifold and the downpipe) with the 2.5" in/out RT cat* and mating it with a SVT Borla catback. I'm basing this on the assumption that the downpipe is going to end at the same place that the SVT header ends, my idea is I can drive my car to Tom's garage and all he'll have to do is take the SVT header off and put his stuff on, and then I can sell the SVT header to someone to get some of my money back.

Anyone have any suggestions?

*About the cat...its really not an option for me to not have one since Ohio requires bi-annual emissions tests, which include visual inspection for a catalytic converter. The test is required to renew your license plates every other year, so if I don't pass I can't drive my car on the road. While I'm not terribly concerned with the people who work there knowing what to look for, (as they're hired off the street based on the fact that they 1-have a body, 2-a pulse and 3-a license and a clean driving record) knowing my luck I'd get the one guy working at the e-check station who knows what he's doing.

You are up to loose money on the deal wiht the SVT header. I would just get the high flow cat and the Borla system, and wait until you get the turbo done to put them on.

Guess I didn't think about it from that angle...for what I'll spend on the SVT header I can probably just have the cat/flex put on while its in the shop.

Hmm...I'd hold off buying anything until you've talked to Tom about the whole conversion. I woulnd't waste my $$ on a header if you're just going to take it right back off again. Btw...anyone know where I can get a high-flow cat for an '04 2.3L Duratec?
