intercooler???

this doesnt have anything to do with a focus but it still has to do with boosting. i was just wondering what is better, a top or front mount intercooler, and why? i've seen in magazines subaru's with fmi's but is it just because you can have a larger intercooler in front and more air can come in or what?

It depends on a number of factors. Airflow, size, length of piping, application, etc. For a Focus, or almost any street car, a FMIC is as good as can be.

i always thought the only reason the scoobys have the top mounted intercoolers is because the intercooler is likely to get damaged when doing a bit of rallying if it were Front mounted.

I would think if you had a evo type hood with the TM intercooler it would be cooler since the piping isnt wrapping around the front of the car and then working its way to the back of the car..

I would go FMIC. Simply because Hot air likes to go up. Besides , wouldnt it get anoying to have to deal with an intecooler everytime your in the egine bay?

This is a no brainer, FMIC. Like mentioned above, its all about size and the pipes, but also about the air flow around and especially THROUGH the intercooler.

I would go front mount and try to keep the intercooler as far away as you can from any heat

top mounts get heat sink way faster then a front mount just because they are mounted inside the engine bay.
