Limit of Stock Zetec?
Has anyone found the limit of the stock zetec (non-SVT)?

im curious to see where its at. i think i remember someone saying about 260... im not sure though.

From what I understand on a safe tune around 250-280 whp.. Posing no damage to the internals..

focusmaniaczx3 02-12-2013 07:16 PM

depends on how good the shape of your engine is. if its worn out you might get 220 safely. if its in good shape you might get 260. basically you get however much hp 12psi gets you.

yea like maniac said 12 psi should be tops on stock internals. even then if your a beast driving it at NA then go boost your likely to bend a rod or break a ring

turbosvtfocus04 02-14-2013 01:38 AM

How can you say 12psi is max when all turbos are different in size. 12psi on a gt28 is completely different than a gt3082r or a precision 5431E.

It should be around 250WTQ, torque break things not hp or psi.

focusmaniaczx3 02-14-2013 05:07 AM

Psi in the intake. Different turbo shouldnt matter, just variations in how fast it spools. Different turbos are capable of more or less psi but if its limited to 12 then what difference will it make hmmm? Logically thats how it works in my mind at least. If im wrong then thats fine. Its been known to happen but give me some logic to back yourself up so I can understand.

I've always heard 250hp max for the normal Zetec and 300hp for the SVT.

drunkyoda 02-14-2013 10:53 AM

maniac with a bigger turbo at 12 lbs it is going to push a lot more air than a little turbo at 12 lbs.

turbosvtfocus04 02-14-2013 11:06 AM

Yes psi is measured the same but air flow isn't. An example, Small frame turbo at 12psi makes 260whp. Now take a large frame turbo at 12psi makes 380whp. Same psi but different air flow. So that's why you can't really base it off of how much boost you run.
