turbo on stock internals
i had just recently bought a 2006 2.0 zx4 ses duratec and i want to purchase a turbo kit from http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant...ory_Code=TRBCK now i understand that this is an "ebay kit" but i am on a budget and from what i have read these kits are nice and provide good low boost (which is what i want) in the realm of 7-8 psi. i have already upgraded to 2.5' magnaflow exhaust. i know i need a stage 2 clutch kit and a new fuel pump. if anyone has any suggestions on what else i may need, keep in mind im going off stock internals and cant afford to have someone rebuild my engine. currently have 74k miles on motor.

you really dont know what you need at all.. i suggest you do a lot more research... for one you will have to spend more money making that kit work.
2. dont need a stage 2 clutch for 7-8 psi for that small of a turbo
3. also the fuel pump is perfectly fine..
please for the love of god do more research.

ya... i did tons of research before even thinking about buying. i would suggest you do the same. you will be a lot happier.

research is proving to be difficult. i found a smaller gt25 kit but i still dont know what kind of stuff i need to do
a good kit is not going to be cheap. FSWerks has one of the best for the duratec.

why oh why do people think it is okay to buy ebay turbo kits... almost everything that says universal fit is no goof for the ar... save up the money and buy a fswerks kit... they are in the focus busn. after you buy that kit your gonna have to put over a grand in to tuning it and might as well spend a little xtra and buy a good kit... also spend some time lurking around here and you will learn alot about turbos...
turbo is a very large investment... most people do intake exhaust and header with tune before they jump to the turbo

Look here in the section for threads with users names and says turbo BUILD next to them. Read and look @ all the posts and pictuures. Like my thread as well. Best way for a newb in theboost world is tofirst read then second buy a second hand kit. That way no messing round or customizing. Just bolt it tune it n go play. Only time u need to mess with fuel pump is if u shoot for over350 whp and juudging by the thread name u CANNOT get that on stock internals without hearing shattering clunking whinding nooises from under the hood. 6 to 10psi works great on stock motor. Get some #45 injectors with a diablo mafie with the kit and you'll be happy

I agree. BUY A KIT!! I did the ebay turbo with a GT2871 ($375) and 'ramhorn' $250 manifold, $100 intercooler and $125 piping kit. No downpipe would fit, bought 3 different 5-bolt downpipes to cut and fit. Spent $250 on a techshop membership, $150 on classes for TIG welding, a $300 mig welder, $150 Co2 tank, and probably over $500 more on odds and ends to make it work...not to mention the waterjet cut flange for the down-pipe to catalyst and the 2.75" stainless that I had to weld up to get the exhaust into the cat. Of course the turbo barely fit, but the turbo exhaust outlet was 2.75" away from the AC compressor. Not too easy to make a good flowing bend in that space, so I don't have AC until I can fab up another downpipe this winter...
Trust me. Get the kit! You will save yourself a world of misery. I did a quick add and have ~2500+ without the injectors or boost control, not to mention any gauges of AF meter, oil pan drain, oil feeds, etc...
The kit is cheap given the piece cost and headache, and you get a much better turbo (usually), and maybe even a waranty. If you can get the tuning with the kit, from someone who knows how to tune (Tom) you will save yourself a motor too.
I can say that once you get the turbo installed and tuned, you will not believe how the car can transform into an amazing vehicle! It is very impressive what 7psi of boost will do!! I am a bit surprised that the turbo is still up and running strong after ~1500 miles. I have the boost up to ~9psi and it seems like it is holding up well...so far... I plan on getting a garrett gtx2867 soon as a replacement that I sure I will need soon...but if I went with a good turbo from a kit in the beginning....
