Benefit of this

What is the benefit of this kind of exhaust housing and having the wastegate in this location?

I think the benefits would purely come from being able to use a external wastegate which can control your maximum boost much better than the internal wastegate can.

Internal wastegates do have limits to how much they can flow due the port size, exhaust flow and downpipe design. Once you reach those limits you will have boost spikes and boost creep.

One benefit is not having to replace an existing turbo manifold that does not have a wastegate port.
Other than that I'm not sure if there is any performance benefit of this style vs. port on the manifold. I'd also like to know.

Actually that housing IS for an internal or external waste gate on the downpipe side which is silly because it also has a v-band for an external waste gate on housing in a diff location
That should be a v-band on the downpipe side or at least the STD 4 bolt and then the v-band for the waste gate , looks like something garrett came up with lol
