I have finally pieced together all the brackets for my JRSC and i am planning on starting the install today. the only thing that i am missing from the kit is the hardware.. am i going to run into an issue of not having bots, nuts, vacuum hoses.. ect.. when i start installing it?
Have brand new 60lb injectors, brand new plugs, wires, have good fuel pressure. Literary the car went from running great to not running in 10 minutes.. was running great shut it off, didn't touch anything on the car tried to start it and it and it don't stay idling.
It will start but I have to keep the throttle open to get it to start and it idles at 2 grand for about 3 to 5 seconds and then dies if I don't open the throttle to keep it going.
if it runs with the throttle open a bit and dies when it's let off; to me that points at iacv. Have you looked at the wiring for it?
it seems unlikely that the one you initially had installed and the one you transferred off your old intake manifold would both be malfunctioning. Did you clean the old one out before using it. I doused mine in throttle body cleaner when i swapped it. All kinds of gunk came out.
you could look for vacuum leaks but that's not always easy to do when the car wont stay running. And I don't believe that would cause a car to die out.
when you do have it running can you get it to stay steady at around 1k rpm by using the throttle?
No I didn't clean it out when I swaped it over but I have since I changed it but I havent reinstalled it. I have not checked the wiring either because I am not sure what exactly I would be looking for. And when the car was running the throttle was a little sticky as in it would hang up for a second and then drop back down.
Alright i cleaned out the IACV that has the little round part on top and reinstalled it and reset the computer and everything and still no luck ... I dont know what else to try..
It's your iacv I can almost be positive. Make sure it is connected all the way clicked on. If its not it will do the same. Had it happen on a car I helped install a jrsc. It wouldn't click on all the way until pressed super hard
i could be wrong but from watching the video when you start it it looks like its blowing something out up by where the intake tube meets the s/c . just a thought but watch it a couple times on full screen around 10-12 seconds into teh video right after it fires
So is this only acting like this during a warm start up? I know that I had weird issues with warm starts until I used the revised vacuum routing posted on the jet by Oscar. During cold starts it would fire up and run great, but if I ran it to the store and came out to start it, it would idle like total crap and I had to keep blipping the throttle to keep it running. Otherwise it ran great. Then I stumbled upon the thread about the revised vacuum routing and gave it a shot...worked like a charm.
Just tossing out another idea. Hope you get it running right.
No it will not stay running at all... I have had it running two times where it ran great for about 30 minutes and then I shut it off and it wouldn't start up again. After the first time I replaced the idle air control valve and it started up and ran fine again then I shut it off and it wouldn't start again...
Well, I know if you are going to continue to mess with IAC's, I would just get an OEM one for starters. Certain things I wouldn't trust to Advanced, PepBoy, Checker, etc.
well i finally got the new idle air control valve and got it installed and well it is still doing the same thing that is was before. runs for a couple seconds and then dies unless i open the throttle.. i am about to give up on this.. i dont know what else it could be...
OK guys and gals i need some help once again... i FINALLY got all the issues fixed or well i thought i did.. the IACV is fixed the tune is prefect the car is running great but i am only making 3 pounds of boost. Tom and i have been working on the tune for the last two months trying to figure out what in the world is going on with it. we have come to the conclusion that the supercharger is bad... has anyone else had this issue?
so i am switching to an SVT header will that increase the boost?
