Turboing a zetec?

Hey Guys/Gals

I have just recently began thinking about adding FI to my Zetec SE. I have a few Questions.

How do you guys overcome the intimidating price tag associated with turbo kits?

Does it seem as expensive as you purchase each individual part?

and would It be dumb just to run 4 psi until I get built internals and a beefed up atx?

Ermm...overcome intimidating price tag.... You save up money until you can afford it. Not sure what to tell you.

Also, there are roughly five million threads about how to turbo a stock Zetec.

if your not willing to spend the money then dont do it.

Its better to know realistically how much its going to cost then to find you've spend a grand on parts and don't have the money to finish.

You really gotta take it a piece at a time. Took me over. A year to complete my kit and I bought about 80% of it in a kit.

Read this: Zetec Turbo Parts List. What is really needed to make power?

It is a great thread by TopSpeed. Should really be stickied to prevent so many of the same question.

@ OP: Part of the reason kits are so expensive is convenience. They already fit everything together, so for the most part all you have to do is bolt it up and go.

That being said piecing a kit together isn't all that hard, just be prepared to spend some money on getting a down pipe and intercooler charge piping fabricated. Those items, unless someone is selling a kit for the exact turbo your using, are unique to your build.

Top Speed's T-series kit is VERY affordable for the power it supports. You can't really get much cheaper with quality parts.

That's for an Escort. The piping will be different.

If it is for the zetec escort it'll be close. That wouldn't be bad just to get the usable parts out of it.

BTW that is a horribly written ad. yikes.
