Turbo charger with High Miles?

Hello everyone! I am extremely new here. Just bought my 2002 SVT maybe a few months ago, and I am looking at getting into cars now (I've done motocross since i was 9 and have been working on my own bikes ever since). But I was wondering, my car has 73,000, and I was looking to put a turbo charger on it..... without blowing it sky high. It will be my daily driver. Please give me any feed back, or suggestions.

If the timing belt hasn't been done yet, do that first. Otherwise you shouldnt need to rebuild it

Yeah, 73k isn't high at all. As long as it was taken care of and you continue to take care of it, 100k more miles isn't out of the question before some significant maintenance is needed.

** Moved to Forced Induction Chat**

Yeah, you should be good as long as all of your usuals are checked. Belts, Fuel Lines, Electrical, etc.

after maintenance is all done. check COMPRESSION. If you're good all across the board you shouldn't have any worries as long as you have a good tune/tuner.

We turbo'd my friends SES with 140,000 on the odometer... it made 240whp on an all stock motor and was running fine when he sold it at 160,000

Make sure regular maintainence is done and change the timing belt. Check the compression and go for it!

My engine had 107K on the clock when I boosted it, has 111K now and still going strong.

your best bet would be to purpose-build your engine for forced-induction....i.e. low compression pistons & forged internals, but i mean i've seen people get away with using the stock internals but 10.2:1 compression ratio is a little high for a turbo-motor....
