Focus4Z's Zetec Turbo Build

This is going to be a slowish build, so just sit back and watch the thread.

I've been talking to my buddy that fabs up turbo builds and the way we are gonna do it since I only have one car, is we are going to build it piece by piece over a course of time and when ready we'll install everything in one day.

For a tune I'll probably be talking to Tom, as he is the only Zetec tuner I know of.

The turbo I'm using is an SR20DET T25. Like pictured below (because errbody likes pictures right?):

We'll be welding a T25 flange onto a pace setter shorty.

All IC piping and exhaust tubing will be custom fab'd.

The BOV will be an HKS SSQV.

I'm doing some research on an Intercooler that will nicely fit behind the front bumper cover.

Thats all for now. I'm off to bed.

well, here is my interest... that header... isn't the best option... i hate those ram looking headers, but that is your choice. i think it creates too much heat near the hood and the engine cover.. but idk ill have to see how everything pieces together for you... and if you think that you are going to install it in one day alone, I hope you mean the full 24hrs, then you might be able to!

good luck with the build!

Yes, a full 24 hours. lmao.

I'm going to heat wrap the header to help keep the heat away from everything. Why is the shorty not good option? I see aftermarket manifolds that look similar to what I'm going to make. The one pictured is for an SR20DET but still..

As an update.. I'm thinking about buying a t3 rather than the t25. I don't need all the power that the t3 can put out but it'll be awesome knowing it can push more.

Sounds like your going to do what I was thinking of doing a while ago but never did. I was going to take a shorty header weld a flange to it for a T3, go to junkyard find a t3, and work out everything else. It never happened and will not now but hey I'll watch and see what happens. Definitely get that header wrapped. Heck I was n/a and when it used to rain the rain would sizzle on the hood it got that hot. I can only imagine how hot it will get with boost running through it.

T3 is just the flange size, it has little to do with how much power the turbo will flow.

After some research I see the the T25 is putting down very similar numbers as a T3. A T25 is a bit smaller than a T3 and will tuck in the Focus engine bay better and it is internally waste gated, so that's the way I'm going.

So this is my rough parts list right now:

-SR20DET T25 turbo
-Pace Setter shorty header with T25 flange welded on
-Oil feed and return line.
-Oil pressure gauge, A/F gauge with wide band o2, and a boost gauge.
-HKS SSQV Blow Off Valve
-Front mount intercooler (haven't selected an exact one yet)
-Silicone couplers
-Misc material. Tubing, o2 bungs, oil line bung to be welded to the oil pan, etc
-SVT Fuel pump (It'll give me some headroom for later on if I decide to push more boost)
-Higher # fuel injectors
-Custom down pipe
-2.5" turbo back exhaust

Feel free to add to that if something major is missing.

The T25 is already set to 7psi stock and since I'm still on stock internals that's about the highest I feel comfortable taking it right now.

Bro, you need to do some turbo research.

A T3 turbo is NOT a specific size. You can have a GT2560 with a T3 flange and then you can have a Big T28 with T25 flange....not a big difference in power.

the pacesetter header is not a good choice because they are thin and may crack.
