Best gas?

I am turbo'd and tuned and use 91 octane of course. I used to go to Arco (AM/PM) back in my 87 days but heard that their 91 isnt always true 91 sometimes. So I have started going to Shell or Mobil. However, they are like 15 cents more expensive, is the gas that much better? Anyone using AM/PM 91 grade?

Octane is octane. As for mpg's? Perhaps they're using more ethanol in their mix than others. Not sure about California but here in SFL they usually have a "Contains up to 10% Ethanol" sticker on pumps. It also has to do with their engine cleaning additives like Chevron's Techron or BP's Invigorate which will add to the price of gas. Additionally, the same brands of gas will vary in different regions.

My personal experience with brands.

When fueling in South Florida - BP has given me the best mpg's while Shell has given me the worse.

In New York - Tops Fuel, Sunoco, and Mobil have all given me about the same.

Random fueling along I-95 - Love's has gotten me into the 31+ mpg highway range while Bp, Pilot, Mobil and Racetrack gas have all been about the same at around the 29-30 range.

Your best bet will be to try them all out if you're really interested in using what's best in your area.

Around me all I fill up with is sunoco 94oct w/ 4% ethanol... they've been doing away with 94 all around here and it looks like sooner than later 93 is going to be out highest oct...

I stay away from getgo & bp due to >10% ethanol... no complaints from 93oct 5% ethanol marathon either

When I had my old 5.0 Mustang, Sunoco ultra 94 was the best for performance and mpg. It cost a little more but 15 cents more a gallon on a 10 gallon fill up is only a buck fifty. So I say use the better gas. And if you get better mpg, you will be saving some cash. With my Focus on the stock tune I get the best mpg with Mobil 87.

I always try and fill-up with SHELL gas. My car seems to run better with it.

I like shell. Car runs best on it, bike won't run on anything but.

If shell not avail it's marathon in the car.

If Shell not avail for bike it's Marathon or Chevron and it sucks when I go on road trips down south on the cepter and never see a shell.
