Removing Turbo Set up

My son has a 2002 Focus with a Roush turbo set up on it. We are thinking about taking it off and wondering if there is anything specific we need to do. I know we will need to get a different exhaust manifold but are there things like mapping and changing the injectors. He has become a starving college student and is suddenly more concerned about mpg than hp. Any help or direction is appreciated.

Removing turbo set up

My son has a 2002 Focus with a Roush turbo kit on it. He is thinking of removing it and we are trying to find out what this will entail. We know that we will need an exhaust manifold but do we have to change injectors or anything else. Since we are not the original owners and there is not a whole lot of info on these kits, any help is appreciated. Now that he has become a starving college student he is more concerned about mpg than hp.

most likely it will need stock injectors and tune put back on along with exhaust manifold or some sort of normally aspirated exhaust manifold and flex pipe. Also don't forget the intake side, which is a intake for a non turbo or the stock intake to replace the intake piping and mass airflow sensor. The dealer ship can probably put a stock tune back on it unless he has the programmer that has the stock tune on it. Then you could just flash it back to stock yourself.

I would sell the car and buy another non-turbo one. It's going to be a pain in the ass to get everything back to stock. You'll still probably come out ahead money wise as well.

My SVT actually got better mileage WITH the turbo... about 4-6mpg better on the average.

He needs to learn to keep his foot out of it.

Not sure, it is the POS model. I like to kid him that when he fills the tank and puts ait in the tires he doubles its value. Anyway thanks for the input. We have lots of other parts block, rods, pistons, also that we had purchased to do a new short block and maybe we will try and move all of it as a package.

Honestly it is probably going to be more of a hassle and cost more money than it is worth MPG wise. Most of the time you should be getting close to the same if not better mpg with a decent tune and turbo. Its only when you drive the piss out of it that you will see a decrease. It really depends on how much you can sell the parts for I guess.
