Looking to go turbo.

I'm wondering what PSI a stock Zetec with the stock Autotragic can handle. Eventually I'm going to get another automatic and build it up along with installing a better TC.

What turbo should I look at getting? I'm trying to be as cheap as possible. The exhaust manifold and all the piping from the turbo to the IC, and from the IC to the Intake is all going to be custom made. I will do a build thread when the project starts.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I know someone more knowledgable will chime in, but I am pretty sure 6-10 psi will be just fine.

I wouldn't skimp on turbo quality, you don't need a thousand dollar turbo for a starter kit but I would say something used from the buy-sell-trade will be perfect for you. they have whole kits being sold as of last night when I checked.

I have a friend that owns a shop not far from me and he is great at making custom manifolds, exhausts, flanges, etc.

So.. Rather than spending $1500+ for a decent turbo kit, I can have that kind of money in a great turbo build.

I mean you could still pick up the turbo, lines, injectors, tuner, and intercooler piping.

Thats true. What kind of turbo should I be looking into? T3's go pretty cheaply but I've heard the spool times aren't the greatest.

I finally got a chance to talk to my buddy that is gonna do the work and he suggested that I go with a T25 from an SR20DET.

Who should I talk to about a tune?

I want more input on how much boost I can safely run also.

the only other thing i can help you with as far as turbo is that you should go through Tom (1turbofocus) to get a tune. he's the best. and i believe he has built a zetec focus that ran a 10 second 1/4? he knows what he's doing.
