boost poll?

I have a question for my fellow FFer's on here that are boosted. i still can't make my mind up on SC or turbo. if i do go the SC rout im getting the procharger kit. if i go turbo well more than likly ill get toms or top speeds kit.
I know a bunch of y'all are boosting their fofo's and i would like your feed back. i don't want to be killed by turbo lag but i do like the power it makes. the car is no longer going to be my daily driver in fact im going to be using it as my race/week end car from now on so im not worryed about DD ability.

so heres the question? what do you run turbo or SC? how much boost are you running and how long dose it take to build up to max boost? and how much HP are you getting out of your set up?

Check my sig. But for instant almost full boost you have to go to PWSC....with PC the real fun starts around 4000rpm

Here is my opinion

The big issues with the SC all SC is there VERY limited as to what they can do Performance wise , The PW creates so much heat that it heat soaks , the jrsc is very very lacking in power , Vortech isnt made any more and when they were it was a poor design and has issues , The PC of them all is my choise but you need to do the C2 unit to make good power and even then the TQ is down because it takes a lot from the engine to turn a SC

Turbo , MAKES TORQUE its TORQUE that your looking for in every mod added to your car it does not rob the engine of TQ to turn the turbo like a SC does , you will have more adjustability , more performance and mainly MUCH MUCH more TQ

Lag , this will depend a lot on your performance goals the more HP you want the more lag you will have , 250-300 then lag will be moderate and you hardly notice it

Lag can also be your friend , all these guys trying to make big power talk about how fast they spool but that does nothing but make wheel spin so they have to go to slicks , traction devises and so one to make up for it and they still run about the same times , a little lag to allow for less spin can be just as fast with out adding slicks and traction devises , It took me a long time to get this in my head but it is a fact

People worry to much about turbos being laggy that is the old school way of thinking , now we have BB and BBBearing turbos to help even more but at a cost and a gain of a few hundred RPM quicker spool

Tom

I've seen awesome builds from all types of FI.
Tom is accurate though pointing out the low-end torque wheelspin issue, especially with a FWD.
I have a tiny turbo. Anywhere over 3,000 RPM if I stomp on the gas there is zero lag.
Personally I like it because it's fun on the street and the strip.
Pure strip car I'd go larger.

Also, your poll isn't going to be very useful unless every person replies and specified at what RPM you're referring to.
In that case, it's not really a poll then is it?

^or gear....

and I'd say gt28rs or 2871 for an svt with a refreshed engine depending on comp/leak down test. keeps from spooling until 3500+ rpm

Its not early spooling that is the problem its people who dont know how to drive. you want the fastest spool you can get out of whatever turbo you go with. just cause it makes full boost at 2200 rpm doesnt mean you have to WOT that low and cause it to spin, you can control spinning with your right foot, but most people dont care to try.

Eh, I can safely say any gear 3K RPM or greater my turbo boosts immediately at WOT.
I can't speak for everyone though.
