How easy is it to fit a centrifugal supercharger?

I was talking to my friend about turbocharging my Focus (I thought it was easier than than it turns out, I thought you'd just have to grab some parts from a crashed RS at a local brokers yard).

To cut a long story short he said that fitting a turbo charger means you have to replace a whole bunch of parts in the engine. He said I should just get a centrifugal supercharger since they just bolt in, don't have to be engine specific, and just need a longer accessory belt to drive them.

He has to be joking right? I've never heard of anyone super charging a focus.

Edit: I seem to have posted this in the wrong place since I had several tabs open, could a mod move it to the right place please?

first off your friend has no idea what he is talking about. they do make SC kits for the focus as well as turbo kits. and i don't see why you couldn't use a turbo kit from a MK1 RS. you just have to make sure you get all the stuff you would need. ill let some one else that knows better than i do on what all you will need but you can't take any SC and bolt it on. it takes alot more than that. and no matter what you go with don't expect to walk away with out spending abunch of money.

Why would you want to go supercharged instead of turbo? Yes, there are supercharged Focuses, but your not going to get anywhere near the power of a turbo.

I was told it's much more work and you have to replace a lot more engine parts to fit a turbo.

that's not true. it is if you want to run a bunch of boost. but with 8-9 or even 10 psi of boost your good. and that will bring you in to the 200whp range.

they both requier about the same amout of install work and no you can not get the same hp from a sc as you can with a turbo but with custom pulleys you can still make 20+ psi of boost now this is just my opinion but i belive sc has better street manners
