Turbo DIY

So...right now I have an 02 zx3 zetec all stock. I wanna go turbo very badly....i lost my wrx during the worst part of the recession and i miss having turbo lol. I like my zx3 and want something different so i wanna build from scratch. Has anyone else done this and how much did it cost...estimates will work. I can do almost all of it myself. I wanna hit 300hp so my big question is can the stock zetec handle it? Are the DIY kits the way to go or should I piece it together? After I am done I have no idea where to get a tune...not sure if there is anywhere in Houston. Do i need forged internals?

Be prepared to spend about 4k. Tom's DIY kit is a good start and I have heard the same from Top Speed's. You will need a built motor for anything over 250hp or so. And as far as tuning, I suggest Tom. He can remote tune it, and gives you free updates as you add more mods.

if you have $3,500 get topspeed's complete kit and slap in a built engine. for ~$5,000-6,000 you'll have a car capable of 500whp

I have roughly 4 grand in my DIY kit. thats with all new parts. So a good guess for price would be between 3-4 thousand.
