Help Configuring an AEM Tru Boost controller

Hi,

I was curious how to set up an AEM Tru Boost controller for my 2.3 L Focus with Focussport turbo kit. I am using this instead of the manual boost controller that comes with the kit. I would like some input on how to configure the controller correctly for 11 psi. I was hopefully looking for someone who uses this on their turboed duratec focus. Thanks for the help.

Read the instructions! They are very detailed and it is easy to use once you understand how it works.

The biggest thing to remember is that you adjust it in duty cycle units not psi. You also have to set the spring psi when setting it up. I would set it for about .5-1 psi lower than your actuator to prevent spikes. Duty cycle for desired psi will be, for example, you want to run 12 psi but you have a 8 psi actuator. That would be an increase of 50% so you would theoretically need a duty cycle of 50, however these things rarely work out to theory exactly so it would most likely be around 43-45. Also remember to increase in small increments until you get the desired psi and a feel for the way the boost is coming on and such to prevent over boosting.

I would have read the instructions but they were lost, I just got around to installing it, I had the gauge sitting around for well over a year and misplaced the instructions.

Thanks for the help though. I read online that they say if your wastegate spring is 8 then you would set the spring pressure to like 2 or 3 in the gauge. I guess I am going to have to fiddle around with it.

Sounds like AEM made a great calibration for their gauge if you have to set it like that.....

At least their AFR gauge is good.

No you don't, 1 psi lower at 8 psi should be fine.

You can download the instructions online on AEMs website.

I like the tru boost once you get it set. It's not that hard just a little confusing at first.
