JRSC belt question

Iím running a JRSC with BBK, and Tomís tune. Over the past couple of months Iíve been progressively losing a little bit of boost (probably 2-3 psi or so). Tom looked at the tune and said itís fine. Iím beginning to wonder if itís my serp belt. With the BBK and the 2nd generation alternator bracket, I need a 103.5Ē belt. I bought one off-the-shelf from my local parts supplier. That belt, however, does not have ribs that directly match the pulleys. Instead, it has more of a cross-hatch pattern (I wish I could describe it better). The parts supplier said it wouldnít matter. Iím starting to wonder.

So hereís my question: Can the pattern on the belt (ribs versus cross-hatch notches) cost me pulley slippage and, therefore, boost?

My guess is that you prob got a gator-back belt (Goodyear).

When I had my Cobra, I ran GATES belts for my kenne bell setup. They seem to be stickier than the others.

How does you belt look on the tensioner? Has it stretched alot?

Maybe try spraying the belt with some belt dressing then take it for a quick spin see if it helps, if so then you know its your belt slipping. My belt was slipping bad, when I would hammer it from a roll you could hear it squeal and then grab, even after it grabbed I was only hitting like 5-6 psi, replaced the tensioner and the problem went away.
