Help Turbo Emissions in PA

If I get a turbo from FSwerks which eliminates the stock cat will I fail PA's emissions test? What can be done about this? I don't know anyone who will just pass me...

Its really different per state. Check your local SMOG stuff.

However, Im pretty sure if you run catless, you will fail.

I found:

Note: Vehicle emission tests are currently required in Allegheny county.

County: Allegheny
Year: 2005
Vehicle: Car
Tests: Onboard Diagnostics and Gas Cap Check
Note: Brand-new vehicles and vehicles driven under 5000 miles annually may qualify for an exemption sticker. Ask your service provider for more details.

So that means they do not do a "sniffer" test with the exhaust? and they do not do a visual check to see that everything is in place?

The possible tests I found for PA are:
* Visual Check
* Gas Cap Test
* Single Speed Idle
* Two Speed Idle
* Dynamometer
* Onboard Diagnostics (OBD)

For a 2005 car it only came up with OBD and Gas Cap. Does this mean I should be ok with a turbo kit deleting the cat?

Hmmm.. cant say for sure. If I were you I would go find a shady looking SMog shop and just be honest with them, tell them what your plans are. most of the time they are pretty helpful.

If you drive it less then 5k a year, it doesn't matter what you do. No visual, no OBD, nothing. This is your best bet.

Yes, '05s only get OBD, and gas cap tests. No visual.

It's been said that a tune will turn off the rear O2 sensor, but a car just failed for that. (It wouldn't let the catalyst monitor run.) The MIL eliminator, or the anti-fouler may be a better choice.

what do you mean "but a car just failed for that"? do you work as an inspector? The dmv website search said there wouldn't be a visual for Allegheny county. If I put a high flow cat in and there was no sniffer, and I had the 2nd o2 disabled via tune....theoretically I should be OK?

The car that failed was at focusp71's dealership. The IM computer failed it for having the rear O2 disabled. Yes. Yes, no visual. Not sure about the HFC, maybe. OBDII cars don't get the "sniffer", the vehicle's PCM does the work.

Yeah, but Tom said in his tune it appears as if the rear O2 isn't even there. In other words, you can't fail when the computer scanning it can't even see that there is supposed to be an O2 sensor there.
