I am wlnderjng to change my 2.5" flex and 2.25 exhaust to a 3".
i am running 7psi and no cat. i need my tune tweeked though.

will i gain more hp and a faster spool, i will look for more power or boost in the future.

my buddy is gonna do a 3" for 150$ and my downpipe is 2.5. that is staying the same either way

Yep, you can definitely pick up a little quicker spool when upgrading from 2.25 to 3". 2.25 is damn small for boost.

the 3 inch will net more power an tq. or if u want u can do what i did and run a cutout in ur down pipe so u can keep the quiet 2.25 exhaust and when u want to go fast just open up the dump.

^^^ Yeah that's a reasonable option as well.

You shouldn't be getting "sputter" because of small exhaust. Sounds like you are having tuning/mechanical/electrical problems. Don't get me wrong, I'm getting sputtering/stuttering as well, but I know for a fact my car has problems. Small exhaust isn't going to produce driveability problems like that, though, just make you slower

I completely agree to your point of view. The sputter is not caused by the size of the exhaust, I'm positive it's most probably something else.

the sputter is my Air to fuel being dicked up becuase my rpms go up and my turbo doesnt spool up fast enought. im getting more lag then i should because of my exhaust is too small.

Umm not so much bro unless you are running a turbo that is around a 35r size going from 2.5 to 3 has prove negligible at the best. It's like a port and polish job on your head you will see VERY little hp gain.

I would be willing to be money you will not notice any difference.

I do agree 2.25 is a bit small but it also depends on turbo size.

Proven by who?

I think John and others might disagree with you. Turbos love less restriction and *that* is proven.
