Zetec Turbo Build.. 235whp goal

Hey guys, I'm starting a semi-worklog of my turbo build. It'll mostly contain pics regarding the process' and progress I make throughout each day. As of now, I'm just collecting parts. I'm also in the middle of a MTX swap. I should have the ATX and engine block pulled tomorrow to bolt on the MTX.
Anyway, here's my parts list:

Parts:
  • Turbonetics T3 Turbocharger - It's a genuine Turbonetics turbo, but I can't find any casting marks that tell me compressor/turbine size. From eyeballing it, I'd say it's a .48 compressor and a .62 turbine.
  • Custom steel log manifold - This thing is heavy duty. I have high doubts that it's ever going to have problems. The flange is at least 1/2" thick and the primaries have a 3/8" wall. T3/T4 flange, and an external wastegate flange.
  • Turbonetics Evolution Wastegate - It's still brand new in the box, but it was purchased to work with my downpipe/manifold setup. 9 psi spring.
  • Custom 2.5" downpipe - It is made exactly for this turbo and wastegate setup. This is also heavy duty steel. The flanges are 1/2" thick, and the walls are pretty thick too. It needs some modification to bolt to my ZX2's exhaust.
  • Custom-bent Intercooler Piping - Painted black; All of it is set up for a FMIC and it fits a Focus perfectly. It may need some modification to fit my ZX2's engine bay.
  • AEM Wideband - Essential for tuning.
  • SCT Xcalibrator2 - Again, essential for tuning.
  • Oil Feed/Return Stuff - Just purchased all of this from ATPturbo.com:
    90 Deg 1/8" NPT to -4 AN
Weld Bung for Oil Pan, 1/2" NPT Female
Custom Oil Drain Line (-10) size steel braided w/one 45 degree 12"
    45 Degree 1/2" NPT to -10 AN
Oil Feed Line -4 - SS Braid, 2 Foot length
  • Ebay Type RS BOV - I've heard good reviews on these, so I thought I'd get one and test it out. My IC piping already has a flange for one :)
  • Generic Catch Can - It catches oil that the PCV and Valve Cover spew at high revs.
  • K&N Hi-Flow 3"x9" conical filter - This is going straight on the compressor side.
  • Focus Power 3" MAF Tube - I know I'd max out the stock MAF housing, so I upgraded a bit. Tom should have an easy time tuning for his own MAF tube.
  • Spec Stage 3 Clutch - An upgraded clutch is pretty much a necessity when turboing a non-turbo'd car. Der der der
  • Mfactory Helical LSD - This is for traction, and so I don't tear my stock diff apart on a launch.
  • Fidanza Lightweight Flywheel - I'm really doing this for reducing rotational mass and making the car rev quicker.
  • Felpro Head Bolts - Need these to reinstall my cyl. head.
  • FMIC - Probably using the one I had in storage. 27x7x2.5"
  • Boost Gauge - Necessary for tuning. I got an Autometer.

Still Need:
  • 42lb Injectors - These should handle my power goals.
  • IC Couplers & T-Clamps - This is going to be hell I think..
  • Misc Vacuum Lines & Hoses
  • Tuning

Here are some pics of the goodies:

Sweet.

Not trying to be a downer or anything, but that manifold looks a lot like Jeff's and he had a ton of cracking problems. I will pray for yours.

Other than that, you have a nice parts build-up. As for FMIC: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CXRac...Q5fAccessories

This supports plenty of power. Over 300whp.

Yeah that does look just like my old one that i got rid of because it was junk (kept cracking). I hate exhaust leaks.

what do you do about the piping for an intercooler? Do you have to had it custom made or is there some quick way of making it?

Oh, wow. Was the manifold a JGS precision one? I think this one is a little bit thicker than the JGS version. Thanks for the heads up though! If I encounter any problems, I'll probably get an OBX design.

Also, the black tubing is pretty much a complete kit for a Zetec Focus. I still have to get my 3" maf tube put somewhere in the mix.
