Blew the head gasket (wanting opinions/tips)

So looks like the head gasket has blown on the SVT Sedan . But no worries it will be fixed for sure, but before i repair the damage...


-What would be the BEST head gasket i can get for the SVT while planning for boost? And why do you recomend that gasket?

AND

-What head studs should I purchase and why do you recomend them?


And of course, a picture of the car awhile ago just for viewing pleasure

ARP is the only company I know of that makes head studs.

As for a HG, Just get the ford oem, should be good for some boost.

Ya i was thinking ARP was the only way to go for the head studs....


But idk about using a stock Head gasket

how much boost? if ur gonna push over 300 on a stock motor (not advised) put a thicker hg in. if ur gonna be under, just keep it stock

OK, well planning on running over 300 hp with about 20 lbs of boost. So if you say a thicker gasket? Who would make it?

look up dhardison's thread on FJ in forced induction. He used a non ford head gasket and it blew, he is now going to a Ford head gasket. He's running 20psi.

You can't do better than stock, it is a 5 layer MLS gasket and has been proven over 500whp

if you want to raise the CR a bit you can run the standard zetec gasket, it is .027" where the SVT is .040", but 10.2:1 is already getting close to the boundaries of 93 octane.

Cometic makes the exact type as stock and they will make them in any thickness

Lack of or poor tuning will blow a HG so you may want to look into that , the stock HG are not an issue to go bad

Ok, so..... Tom? What do you think the best rout would be for a HG? And how thick?

I wouldnt doubt that poor tuning had to do with this, but it may have been that the motor was in a focus that flipped at about 120mph. Maybe that had something to do with it. Not sure.... But.... I would love to drive the dam thing down to you so you can tun it all perfect.

The Cometic is a multi layer HG just like stock , actually if you had a cometic and a stock in your hand you couldnt tell me which one is which , there exact both materials used and quality , it almost looks like cometic makes the stock HG

For boost I would do + .020 -.025 thicker then stock SVT HG depending on what you wanted the final compression to be
