What is the most difficult part about going FI?

what takes the longest? I'm figuring that this can't be done over a weekend...

-how long is it until you can drive after putting everything on? In other words
-how long does the fine tuning take (if doing it remotely)?
-Is it a bad idea to try and have it tuned remotely?

This is something I am really wanting to do, but I have the feeling I will attempt it over a weekend and be screwed in terms of going to work the next week and whatnot. Does it basically require having a backup vehicle?

Also, anyone know of any tuners in the Pittsburgh area or anyone who has boosted around me?

If you have a full weekend to to this and have time scheduled to get it tuned then it is possible to. Tuning will take longer than installing usually. It took me only 5 hours to get everything installed for my sc. Unfortunately for me, I was working 7 days a week and couldn't make time to work with Tom for remote tuning. It ended up taking me several months to finish it.

Well ill assume you mean the tuning since money is self explainatory.

I paid tom to remote tune my car. Logged the values he wanted, he changed stuff till he was happy. I never had any problems with the tune.

Took me a couple of weeks to tune but that was b/c it was the middle of winter and it kept snowing and that prevents a good run to log(slipping on roads). Wasnt really all that much work on my part, just patience.

x2 on the patience. Lots of it.

I wouldn't suggest that you start this on Friday and expect to drive it on Monday. Tom has lots of customers so he might not have time to get it finished for you or you might break a bolt or discover a vacuum leak and set you back. Just plan on having a second vehicle or someone else to drive you for awhile.

I also wouldnt start it on a Fri and expect to be at work with it Monday , I dont tune on Sun. unless its an emergency and in a case likt this it wouldnt be , sorry

I takes about 1 to 2 Hrs depending on your logging skills and speed to send and get files to have the car driveable and thats only if there is no issues with Vac leaks , MAF location and so on

Tom
