can you make a custom turbo kit?

ok so here's the deal...my friend has a turbo which he will sell me pretty cheap not sure of the model but it is a garrett , and i know it works good still since he just had it in his mazda 3. my question is, can i possibly find all the parts that i will need to get a turbo system to work? I have an 06 ZX5 with a 2.0L Duratec and i only want to run 6-8psi so nothing major. if you could tell me what i would need and possibly where to get it for cheap, it's kind of a budget project since i dont have alot of money I'm trying to see if i could price out everything and see if its possible for around $1000 (excluding the turbo). I'm new to F/I so i just need to know everything that i would need to make it work, and if it is even possible to do

the tuning itself would be probably around 700 to do it properly, but if you have access to fabrication materials for cheap (manifold/piping) you could possibly do this

Well...unless you can make all the piping yourself for close to free, and the manifold you won't do this for under $1000. Read the stickies to get a good idea of all the stuff you're gonna need and then start checking out the prices for that stuff.

I normally say $4000 to $6000 for a quality turbo build. BUT if you're set on going cheap you MIGHT just might be able to stay under $2500. But that's a lot of if's.

yup, unfortunately, it can't really be done. you need to build a turbo kit then pick the appropriate turbo, not visa versa. even if someone gave you 100 bucks to take a turbo, doesn't mean thats the turbo you should use for your application. the cheapest ur gonna get is maybe about 3k unless you find a used kit
