Blow off valve / recirculating

I am still really new to turbos and this is something I have been wanting to learn more about.

My focus doesn't have a BOV apparently. It doesnt make the pshhhh noise. I was told that it is recirculating.

I have been told that this is better for the whole system. True?

Also, the noise it does make when the throttle closes after a boost is, in my opinion, odd.

The only thing i can compare it to is that noise horses make.......lol

After listening to way too many horse .wavs found one that is somewhat similar. http://www.horsepresence.com/shop/me...Blustery22.wav

Another comparison would be when you lick your lips and keep your lips touching and exhale.... these are poor descriptions, i know.

I will have to try and make a recording of it somehow.

What I am actually afraid of here is the noise i am hearing is the air escaping via air filter. Which would mean it is travelling all the way back through the turbo, correct? Which is also very bad, correct?

I guess basically what I am wanting to know is with a recirculating system are there supposed to be ANY sounds in place of the blow off noise?

What we need is pictures of all your I/C piping. It's pretty damn obvious when you have one. Only thing that's gonna be on I/C piping is your MAF and a BOV.

Sounds like its a recirc. But that hoarse sound sounds like what you call flutter. If that is what it is no, its not bad. Its not ideal because the system isnt working properly, but what is bad is surge and that is when you are in boost and the air is pushing past the turbo. That is the bad flutter.

EDIT: Well after looking at your bay in that third pic you posted i see no MAF after the turbo. If thats the case then it seems you have a suck through system.
Maybe its there and I just cant see it, but i also see what looks like where a BOV could bolt up to. It right behind the coilpack. It looks like it has a block off plate on it.

pic showing the blocked off thing

this must be the "greddy BOV" it is underneath the battery box, there is no good angle to get a better look. I would have to remove the battery and the battery holder i believe.

Some has either moved the BOV or took it off , the second picture I cannot see well enough to tell what it is or how its hooked up

If you want that thing right your going to have to spend some money and get things where and the way they should be

You need a BOV not a pos recirculating valve

Also, where the hell is your MAF? We don't know if you are suck-through or blow-through. I'm guessing suck-through at this point, but if you would please take a pic of where it is, it would be nice.
