N2O For Zetec

I'm just trying to weigh my options for my dd zx5 zetec. I was curious about nitrous for my 02 zx5. I know wet kits are usually the way to go, but my question is what kit would be safe for a stock zetec 2.0(internals)? All opinions and comments are welcome. Sorry if this is a repost.

Thanks

It seems that many members safely use a 50 shot.
Thats what I will be using in my zx3.

safe nitrous shot for the zetec?

Im VERY happy with my 50 shot.
Have been thru several bottles in a lil bit of time.
With stg2 cams/4-1header/exhaust/K+NFIPK/UDP/65MM Throttle Body/ported intake manifold, and evry other bolt on...cept a supercharger or turbo kit(Saving $$$ to beef up drivetrain before i go install my garret 2554 gt-r turbo kit.)
Runs tight as a drum, LOTS of punch when hitting nitrous after already at full WOT.
GEt the WOT switch, a bottle heater, and fuel rail adapter if u want to actually be able to use the nitrous oxide.
I have a nx remote opener that I might part with IF your interested, and also the frod racing tach driver, and NX RPM window switch...so you can have the nitrous work ONLY during WOT(with WOT switch-HIGHLY recomended), and with window switch it will obnly spray when you are in the power band of your zetec...without cams I would spray from 3000-6000 rpm. With cams I wont spray til 3100 or 3200rpm til 6400 rpm.
Just remember @ 5$ a pound, and if you spray daily you can go thru a bottle really quick...if ur like me you will be spraying on every v8 musclecar, or ricer that trys to mess with you. Makes a HUGE difference.
But it costs about 60$ everytime you have to have it refilled.
AND DEF get the bottle heater...cause even on 90 degree days its VERY RARE that the bottle pressure will get to the 800(min) to 900 psi needed to get a small shot.
With the bottle heater working you can get PSI up to 1000-1200 MUCH easier...and THATS when you get what feels like more then a 50 hp shot from a nitrous kit. I just got a spare bottle filled up for driving down to the beach.
And once I install my turbo, Im using one bottle, as a intercooler "supercooler" sprayer, and taking the 50 shot out, and running a 20 hp shot to eliminate lag, and boost WOT performance.
Remember...without a torque biasing diff, if you spray from a stand dtill, and arent very careful u will peg out 6800-7000 rpm quick, and possibility of engine damage is greatly increased.
HOPE THAT HELPS>
PM me with amy questions.
I have had my kit since befroe christmas of 2008.
OOOOO YEA ALSO VERY IMPORTANT...If you dont have a hand held programmer/flasher...like a excal 2 or 3...get one.
You will need to retard timing 2-3 degrees, and run some 104 octane gas to help eliminate the chance of detonation. Also increase your WOT A/F ratio,...I run mine 6% richer during WOT.
Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions.
K

Unfortunately I havent run it at the drag strip ...yet.
I work a LOT.
And most of my free time I try to spend with my son.
I have had some technical gremlins in one from or another, and havent even been able to run a autox with it....broke a wheel stud at the 4-18 PCA autox.
Then I had a loose bottle heater PSI gauge wire, which controls when heater element turns itself off upon reaching desired pressure, and doesnt help the bottle heater run when its not making a connection..
So that blew my chance to use it @ the CPA/PCA 4-25 autox.

Now my clutch slips when i give it anymore then half throttle out of the hole.
Rolling it does ok still.
But its slipping BADLY from a stand still.
So with my luck it would implode trying to launch at the strip.
I am hoping to get a clutch and flywheel soon. Already have the torsen diff, and 4.06 gears.
Then I am DEF gonna run it once at cecil before i go install my turbo kit.

No my tune was done by McNews for my cams. You basically have to take it from being advanced(which any high performance N/A tune is) to retarding the timing for nitrous use.
Prolly would be safe with just using my excal2 to set timing back 2-3 degrees from 3-7000 rpm. But I use race gas to ensure a safer spray. And also enriching the wot fuel ratio so it doesnt go lean. Since when a wet kit(the better VS> a dry kit) is pulling fuel from the fuel rail, you want to bump up the amount of fuel sent to the fuel injectors during wot spraying.
And whatever you do, when working with nitrous on your car, if you have been playing with the engagement/wot switch/fuel/N2o lines etc...do not start car for 15 min after if there is ANY chance there may be some nitrous and fuel sitting in the intake tract/ or in the Intake manifold, which could cause damage upon starting.
I have been told this is how most people blow there engines when using nitrous oxide.
I love spraying at speed, it kicks in and goes thru gears a helluva lot faster.
Getting it dyno'd with juice the day before Carlisle....I HOPE.

good luck
And happy spraying

You need to do a wet kit and you need to do a good safe tune and have a wide band air fuel gauge , Just randomly pulling timing and adding WOT fuel is a good way to do things , you could be loosing almost as much power as the nitrous is adding and with out a wide band and datalogging you wouldnt know

Wet kit.
Also have msd blaster coil, wires, and one step colder plugs.
And it must be working ok casue I pulled away from a Jackson racing sc'd SVT.
AND a 2.3 duratec turbo.lol.

Tru It would make even more power with a true nitrous tune.
But Im saving money to tune my turbo kit/with a smaller shot of nitrous to increase spooling speed, and a intercooler sprayer to super cool the charge air before it reaches MAF.

Im VERY happy with my nitrous set up.
