Which wastegate/spring

With my new build im replacing my deltagate mkII because it is junk. The valve is bent and doesnt seal completely. So I was planning on getting the TiAL 38mm wastegate or the TiAL MVS 38mm wastegate. I really like the prices compared to the evolution that some people are using. Im shooting for 280-300 whp with my build. What psi spring do you think i should get? I dont plan on running that all day long because this is my dd so my low setting I would want to be around 220-240 so I dont want to get like a 16 psi spring. My current setup is terrible and is causing boost spike b/c it came with such a weak spring(3psi).

I was thinking .9bar or 1bar spring. Opinions?

well figure out what psi you need for your base power and get that spring, then use your boost controller to turn it up

Thats weird. A weak spring shouldn't cause a boost spike. Are you sure the current valve you have is opening far enough to vent enough exhaust to keep the boost down.

I bought one of those el cheapo Ebay ones with the V-band clamps for my Stang. I had to modify its guts to make the valve open farther to get rid of high rpm spike.

I now have a Turbosmart Ultragate.

My gate is junk. Ok ill probably get either the .8 or .9 bar springs. Looking to grab this tonight or tomorrow. I need to get my stuff in order so I can have my project start moving again. Im probably using the wrong phrase. I think it was boost float...either way it wasnt keeping a consistant psi. I was running 11-12 psi on a 3psi spring with a cheapo turbosmart boost controller. Im going to be replacing both the gate and the boost controller but i have an ebc at my house or i might get the hallman mbc, those I dont have questions on.

yeah just get what size you want to run on your low boost setting. 12 or 14 or so. if it is a little lower than what you want your base pressure to be, if you get a 12 and end up wanting to run 14 on low just shim it up. on a boost controller like the greddy you can set a low and high boost but it just works better to run the highest spring pressure you can.

Sure a weak spring will cause spikes in boost , Idealy you want 1 psi boost for 1psi manifold and versa-visa in an ideal world , if the spring is low psi and your going for 12psi on a 3 psi spring then you could and most cases would see a spike when the WG opens

Im not trying to argue here tom. You never quite expand on the issues you had. Im just curious what these issues were? Sticking valve? Boost spike for no reason? Im not in a super hurry to buy this wastegate but I wanted to get one ordered soon so I can send it when I get my mani redone if it has a different flange.
