Correct, you cannot safely drive it with a turbo kit on. Either you have it towed or...the ghetto way is to have everything installed except for the injectors and piping to the throttle body. So you would be running on your NA tune. It's not that smart, though, because you would be spinning your turbo with no boost reference. If you had to accelerate quickly for any reason, you'd probably overspin the turbo. People have driven on stock injectors with the I/C piping hooked up but I wouldn't want to do it. It's your call.

Like he said, you'd have to find a way to get it to the shop like towing. Why wouldn't you want to go with Tom? Just wondering.

Well i wouldnt have to buy a wideband to get it tuned because the place would supply it. but i would deffinitely buy one in the future.
Toms tune is a great choice but this company my dad works at has rented a warehouse to one of the top tuners in the area in 2003 so they would be willing to give me a good deal on tuning.

p.s. my dad doesnt feel so comfortable about me sending 550$ for someone to tune my car that i dont know to well. I trust tom though.

Has this place ever tuned a Focus before? Before I'd even consider them I'd make sure they have. Also, if I were you I'd want to have a wideband in my car once I'm turbo. It's only $200 anyway.

you can drive the car with a turbo kit on with stock injectors with out unhooking the charge piping. you just have to know how to drive it. as long as you arent getting in boost the car is basically stock. i drove mine 1/2 way across the country to tom's like that. after a week of break in and a 17 hr drive i got it tuned. but i wouldnt recommend it unless you are sure you can drive it easy enough. its your choice im just saying it can be done.

get a wideband they arent just for tuning.

tom is a very trust worthy guy that does a great job. i vote for tom's tune.

what if i take the waste gate spring out??
Its like 8 bolts or so to take it out for me and then i should have little to no boost along with nit putting in the larger injectors.
I have 42lb bosch injectors, should i risk driving with them or is it too much??
There not very time consument to put in anyway.

Does that sound good ok, the waste gate idea or???

If Tom does your tuning he can send you a "base" tune thats good enough to get you there with everything hooked up.

To get him where? He wants to go to another tuning shop...so Tom wouldn't be doing the tuning.

Anyways, Patrick, as Tim said (Turbo Turtle), you can drive the car witch stock injectors and everything else installed as long as you baby the hell out of it. If this shop hasn't tuned a boosted Focus, though...could be iffy.

Not sure why your dad doesn't trust Tom. I don't think your dad realizes that Tom has been tuning the Focus since it first came out in 2000 and that he has dealt with thousands of customers and has a full-fledged business in North Carolina. He's not some street vendor with a shady website that says "Send money, thanks."
