PattyWaggon's ZX3 Turbo Thread

Hey, im finally getting close to finishing pecing my kit and begin installing them. My goal is 220whp and maybe 200wtq at 10psi.
Let me know if thats a realistic goal or what numbers i could be making while being safe.

As of now my focus only has bolt ons like:
CAI, 4-1 Headers and flex 2.5", 2.25" exhaust, egr delete, and no cat.

Planning on fixing the egr and weilding on a cat so i can pass inspection.

What I have now are...
-T3 T4 Borg Warner Turbo about 2-3k miles .63AR hotside
-OBX Manifold and Down Pipe 2.5"
-42lb Bosch Fuel Injectors
-Ebay Type RS BOV
-Ebay 38mm Waste Gate 8psi spring
-Oil Lines (Feed + Drain)
-Manual Boost Control
-Oil Catch Can
-Turbo Timer

What im going to get soon
-Boost Guage
-Xcalibrator 2
-AEM Wide Band Sensor/Guage o2
-FMIC with 2.5" Piping
-Toms Tune

I actually have the money for the xcal, wideband, boost guage, and intercooler/piping but im just waiting on good deals for them.

Here are some pics:

Theres minor things not included in the pics like extra tubing, hardware, flanges, gaskets, and other such small things.

I know that I have a few ebay items, im planning on changing them later when i go higher boost or plan on getting more hp and tq.

Ill update in a few days or weeks when I buy some of the few things im missing. I post the welding work i gotta do, like a highflow cat and two o2 bungs in the manifold along with and egr pipe so ill pass emissions.

Hope this all looks half decent,

Patrick.

I will not bash your OBX manifold. I'll just wish you the best of luck on that one.

I highly advise against an eBay wastegate. Wastegates need to be able to control your boost very well or else you *will* have boost spikes and that will cost you your whole engine. Go with Tial or Turbonetics.

Turbo timer is completely unnecessary.

You do not want to take your air fuel ratio in your manifold. It will only get the reading from one cylinder. You want your stock primary O2 sensor in the downpipe *right* after the turbo. Then about 24" downstream, you want your wideband.

Yeh i knowbthe turbo timer is unecessary but i like it cuz it tells me my battery voltage and i could hook up a wideband sensor and it would read though it.

I know some people wkth ebay wastegates and there not too bad.
Ill keep a close eye on my boost gauge and make sure.

What about the downstream o2 sensor. Like the one after the cat. So ill have 3 sensors on my exhaust and i think my car only has 2.
Like what im saying is that it only has 2 clips for 2 sensors.
Help me out if im just being an idiot

X's 3 on wg and turbo timer

your car comes with a primary and post cat o2. you will be adding the wideband so you will have a third. the primary and wideband will both go in your dp before the cat. the post cat will be the only one after the cat.

gonna have to slightly disagree w/the wg. Obiously there are sh**y ebay ones out there. but there are legit ebay ones out there. I believe it was turbo xs or something like that. I'll have to check. anyways, I had 2 srt-4 buddies that were running em. one had a precision 6262 spiking 32psi holding 28/29psi, the other had a garrett 35r spiking 29/30 holding 26ish. both of those turbos hit HARD and I've been in both cars numerous times and havent seen any kind of crazy spikes from either. they were a tial knock off and designed pretty well for an ebay wg. just my .02

Mike, Turbo XS isn't an eBay brand...I have their dual stage boost controller and I know of others using it.

Tom deletes the 2nd O2, yes.
