Turbo Cougar

I'm building a turbo Zetec Cougar and was wondering if anyone over here is using the OBX turbo mani? If so, any fitment issues? Pretty sure the turbo mani and turbo will not clear the radiator fans on the Cougar, and I'm wondering how much extra room the Focus has (if it has extra room) also if any of those problems exist.

The manifold in question.

yea, knowing my luck they probably will. I ran the obx header while N/A it never cracked, so I figured I'd trust this one. I wonder if they just hung the turbo from the mani though.. that'd probably crack it a little faster.

use that manifold, the welds on it look great, about as good as any other stainless header i have seen, if your worried about all that weight hanging from it make some support brackets to bolt to the turbo to support the weight, alot of guys run supports because turbos aren't the lightest bolt on parts--- be sure to post pictures of how it turns out and good luck.

Its not the look of the weld its the penetration and what rod and material they use. The manifold will crack. its made out of crappy china metal that has way to much carbon in the metal. it makes the stainless weak and it actually rusts its horrible ss. but they have the concept down.

Im not trying to trash you mani im just telling you how its made and with what

I agree with you, it needs thickness piping bigger and it needs to be done with less carbon in it...

so i say this, as for the welds yes they look good, as for penetration its pretty hard to look inside the tubing, send me your manifold and ill have it x-rayed by NDT Corp. and see if the slant eyed bastards can weld as well as it looks. As for the material used to make it, yes it is china and they are known for their crap metal, for gods sakes the manifold is probably made from the beer cans our dads drank in the 70's---- but how do you know that the materials that everyone is using isn't from the same pot those chinese "knockoffs are made of?
