are you turbo'ing or using ur SC?? cause you can blow up the bottom end on stock internals. if ur using the SC, i would think it would cause you can max it out. anything w/ better flow will mean more power!!

sorry, i meant to say it can blow the bottom end up w/ a turbo on stock internals if you get greedy. w/ a PC, you can't, unless you have a really crappy tune. so to maximize it, i would get head work done. if you were turboing, i would say screw it cause you can make well over 300 on a turbo, but since you can' t go that far on a PC, its worth it for head work (potentially) since you can't max out the bottom end.

I feel it would be a waste of time to port the head on a SVT unless you are turbo and going for big power , spend the money in other places that will help with power

Yes very pritty heads , If you want pritty I would get one of those heads , but when you install it you wont be able to see pritty

If you were running a NA engine with 13-14.1 compression a modified intake , custom cams , custom header , and so on like the engine tested in the dyno then yes I would say a head like that is needed

For what he is doing a gain of about 10 to 14HP for about 15-1700 isnt worth it

Sell the SC take the cost of a ported head add that to the SC money buy a kurbo kit and you will still make about 100HP more then with the SC and ported head

a port job would helped your procharged svt yes... however... I wouldnt waste $1.3k+ on it... it wont net you the kind of gains worthy of spending that kind of money... so..

my suggestion would be to by a used low mileage head and port it yourself or port the one you have... if your careful and the valve seats are in good shape... lap the valves in and be done with it... I ported my head on my turbo zetec and noticed quite a bit of gain even when in "no-boost" situations... the best $90 ive spent (price of used head and dremel sanding rolls)

the procharger is a great supercharger setup (although im not a huge fan of how they mount their intercoolers...) its a very capable setup and ive personally seen several over 300whp which is pretty decent for a bolt on supercharger package (yes... there was MUCH more done then just the supercharger... but thats beside point)

anyways... my 2 cents....

if you dont feel comfortable porting your own head... then I'd invest the money elsewhere instead of buying a high-dollar ported head...

good luck

i was actually about to ask this question. I plan on turbo hopefully in the next year (Tom I'll be contacting you for the DIY. my goals are 350+ WHP. Yes i'm gonna build the crap out of it)

I will however be getting P&P, I was just curious on the average cost. My find my own and use a dremel.

anyways, I'd say its not going to gain too much on S/C. Unless you have the extra money and just want to do it. But 1200 bucks for 10 hp or so just doesn't seem logical.

I will 100% guarantee that if 99.999% of the people here port there own head it will flow less then stock or not any better at all , It allways amazes me that people thing they can grab a grinding tool and go to porting and thing it gains things , There is 2 places on the SVT head that if you cut flow drops

Porting does not mean just to make the runners bigger , It takes a flow bench and 1 to 2 junk heads to find out what works then install the intake or header to see what you just did go to crap once intake or header installed

Unless your going for big HP porting the SVT head is worthless and it amazes me that people that have done NO testing say other wise
