Was this guy blowin smoke?

So i ran into a guy at the local pepboys as i was walking in the store. He stopped me and asked me about my SVT and what if anything i had done to it. So we get to talking and this guy sounds like he knows what he's talking about, he sounded like he was pretty well intuned with the ford focus. Then he points out to the minicooper in the parking lot that had a 5 foot intercooler and it was huge and i mean huge and tells me that he used to have a SVTF before he bought the minicooper S. Unfortunately he said he wrecked it and he sold it to the junk yard a few years ago. Anyway long story short he said he was also running a SVTF/JRSC in his Svt along with a Random Tech hi flo cat, intake, HKS exhaust, some suspension work, wheels.... and get this.. a Blow Off valve....... I asked him about it and if he was sure he didn't have a different SC blower, I even walked him to my car, and showed him my blower. As soon as he seen it he said "oh cool you got the big boost kit"...... WTF ???.. so he explianed how he had the BOV set-up but i was to to confused to actually retain any of what he said. He said he's always around the Pepboys and he said next time he sees me he will give me his old BOV .

anyway sorry for the long story but was this guy for real?

I think it could be done, but it would certainly take some modification and I dunno why you would do it unless you replaced too many bypass actuators and got fed up.

You'd have to mount the BOV in place of the bypass and then block off the hole on the underside of the inlet of the blower.

Again, why you would go through this trouble, I dunno.

I would imagine supercharger whine with a little "Woooosh!" inbetween shifts would sound kinda sexy...

the bypass valve on a jrsc doesnt work like a bov. it says open under vacuum and circulates the air the blower is making, and snaps closed when the throttle is hit. a bov is before the tb to prevent surge and vent access boost that is still in the pipe when the throttle is lifted. the bypass valve on the sc is after the tb and would be a huge vacuum leak and would not work correctly, not to mention it would vent metered air.... the guy was full of shizzle... go smack him

Fack!!! i haven't seen the guy again, been back to Pepboys 4 times and nothing yet... I'm curious as to why he would make up such a lie or why would he do it if it's a vacuum leak...
