Question Stock tank for return style fuel system

First let me note that this isn't going to be going into a focus. I just parted out my focus and bought a Galant VR-4 (turbo AWD DSM drivetrain in a Galant). The galant has a Walbro 255 in it, but tank is pretty hacked around the sending unit (rusted, all the mounting bolts were snapped, and has a bunch of holes drilled in it) and it weighs a ton so I'm thinking about pulling it and replacing it. Was measuring and noticed that the focus's would fit almost perfect and I've heard of ppl modding for return style, but a lot of fuzzy details, especially regarding the canister. I know it would be better to get a fuel cell, but this is free. Can anyone fill in the details of how to turn the focus's into a return?

There are a few ways of doing it. I'm not saying the one I've seen is the best, but it supported over 350whp on one guy's build. He made a surge tank out of pvc piping or something that stores fuel well, had the stock pump fill the tank, then ran a high-flow pump that fed the fuel rail. He mounted the surge tank in the engine bay, but it's not necessary. For the return line, he just dumped it back into the fuel canister. I was trying to find the thread, but can't. I'm pretty sure that's the right order.

That's similar to what Dtec04 did on his Duratec. Do a search on here or FJ for his thread.

Haha, that's who I was talking about . Just couldn't remember his name. Yeah, so the part that I missed was that you return the fuel to the surge tank from the FPR, then you have a return line running from the surge tank to the stock tank.

I looked at that setup, but it requies an external fuel pump which I don't have. At that point its cheaper for me to buy a plastic fuel cell w/ foam in it and mount my 255 in it.
