Busting the Block

Who's got the skinny on how much boost the 2.0L Zetec short block will take?

Does anyone have the bragging rights to the highest boost here?

The block is good for over 400whp... the rods and pistons on the other hand... considerablely less. I wouldnt push the stock Zetec stuff past 250whp or so, the SVT on the other hand will make around 330whp on its stock internals.

If I had to guess 1turbofocus has/had the highest boost here...

Thank you for replying! I heard that the stock block was stout and had heard about internal issues in the Zetec, but I heard that boosting issues were actually more attributable to the Ford returnless fuel system more than the powdered-metal connecting rods and internals.

No the issue isnt the returnless system as much as the lack of good tuners for the focus, I have hundreds of 250-300 Foci out there on the stock fuel system with no issues

At about 300 to 330 you need a return fuel system

I hit 386whp on the stock fuel system with nothing more than a tune and a Boost a Pump... but the fuel pressure was starting to fall off... still fairly safe but a little lower than what we like.
