So my buddy blew his motor. The boost controler line fell off and now he has a shattered piston, broken rod, and a hole in the block. He has the Focus Sport stage 2 turbo kit on it now, and a 75 shot of N20. We are looking at forged internals, block, intake, stroker kit, and alittle more boost. Maybe around 15-20psi.
Im at a loss right now with finding parts and what parts to use. Was looking into getting the intake of the Mazda speed 3, but not sure if it will bolt up. I know Focus Power sells a 2.3 stroker short block and was thinking of gong that route.
Not sure what or how to do this, any help would be great.
Thanks
well if you are looking looking to buy a whole new 2.3L storker shortblock, then why don't you save the money and get a Cosworth IM thats designed for boost and the take the rest of the money and get some forged internals. Not sure how good you are with car but if you can build it yourself then that will save you alot of money. This is what I would do...
There is a hole in the block so yes we would need a new block. Just trying to figure out if its worth getting a junk yard block, doing all the machine work buying the internals and putting it all in or just get a built stoker short block. (were to go) And need to know what to do about intakes. The stock one isnt really designed for boost, but the one on mazda speed is. Can I bolt that one up to the 2.0 Duritec head?
Basicly I have an 05 Saleen N2O Focus with no motor and I want to put a stroker in it with about 15-20psi boost. Were do I go and what can I use.
So, if we get a built 2.3, and buy a focus 2.3 head and intake as tom suggests, is there anything else we would need? Or is all else the same? Wiring, etc.
And best guess is motor saw 19psi, as that is what the wastegate is set for.
ice breaker? I would imagine that a new computer would be needed. Got to make sure that all of your equipment matches what the computer has been programmed for i.e.: Auto or Manual Trans, 2.3L or 2.0L, etc..... Things of that nature.
Yup, I just confirmed that I don't need any new ecu/computer stuff.
