Turbo'ing 2.0 Duratec on 07 Zx3

Hey there, most of these questions have probably been addressed at some point but I ahve done some hunting and its hard to find the answers. Im thinking of building my own kit for my car, considering it will be a lot cheaper. Im pretty car savvy but this is the first focus I have ever owned so still getting used to her. My questions are:

1. Where can I get a log manifold for the 2.0 duratec? I assume the 2.3l manifolds do not bolt up to the 2.0, but im not sure.

2. What are the part interchangability between performance models that I can grab? Perhaps this is more of a different forum question but its also for when i want to turbo the 2.0. Such as what parts can I get off of an SVT or 2.3 that will bolt on? Heads, headers, etc.

3. Lastly for the poor man's turbo kit, tell me if im wrong if this is all im going to need: Turbocharger, Turbo exhaust manfold, intake piping, Coolant and oil cooling lines, boost controller, BOV, down pipe.

My main issue is the fact that im seeing a lot of kits and parts for the Zetec and not the Duratec. I assume that nothing, if much at all is interchangable on these motors. Sorry heh, i used to own 2 Neons so i got to know them pretty well so just slowly getting used to Foci :)

Wlecome to FF..

The Zetec is a totally different engine compared to the Duratec.

There are the 2.0 Zetec, 2.0 Spi. 2.0 Zetec(SVT) engines, and the 2.0/2.3 Liter Duratecs. Nothing from a Zetec will fit your Duratec execept maybe an exhaust system. However, the 2.0 Duratecs and the 2.3 L Duratec parts are interchangable!

What ever part you find for a 2.3 L Duratec will most likely fit your 2.0 Duratec with little or no modification.

Poor mans turbo your gunna need all that plus a new oil drain kit and lines for the turbo plus a tune, injectors(48 lbs or so), new ignition plug adapters. Plus if your running over 8 psi i would highly recommend investing in a intercooler. You can pick up some stuff at FocusSport.com, C-F-M.com, F2USA.com and some other places.

Thank you very much for the welcome and info :) Its mainly a kit im going to be compiling over this winter most likely, and I dont plan on running anything over 8 psi for awhile, probably gonna go with a T3 or a T05, depending what i can get first. Just glad to know the 2.3 interchanged with the 2.0 because I was really getting frustrated trying to find parts for the 2.0 :) Lol with neons all I had to worry about was SOHC or DOHC, until the SRT-4 came out with the 2.4l....so this is a whole new world to me :) but im proud to have my ford coupe :) Me and my bro are becoming quazi ford fanatics, hes got a 93 SHO that he just got done putting a stage 3 clutch in and a full 60k maintinence. I appreciate all the info :) Look forward to offering the General advice I can throughout the forums, I went to auto service school for a year and a half, but can't really diagnose a whole lot without hooking up a snap-on tool ;) Thanks again.

My turbo build thread should help you out.
You'll probably go with a different style turbo, but you'll get the general idea what you're in for.

Hey RyGuy, welcome to FF! I'm in Wichita, good to see some members from the area.

There are exhaustive amounts of information on this forum about which parts can be swapped between which motors and such. The 2.0 and the 2.3 Duratecs are essentially the same engine. The extra 0.3 of displacement comes from a block that about 11 mm taller. This also results in a lower compression ratio.

One notable thing, though, is the head of a 2.3 breathes much easier than a 2.0. You may consider swapping that for your F/I purposes, if you ever decide to start jacking up the boost.

For a hefty penny there is a Duratec turbo kit or two out there. FocusSport sells a great kit, been installed by many a member on this forum, and they all swear by the kit AND the outstanding customer service and support from FS.

Tom from Focus-Power is still developing his kit, I believe, but that guy has put 700 horsepower to the ground from one of his beast ZX3s, so it's safe to say he knows Foci.
