Nitrous on stock SVT tune..

I post on another forum all the time (LSX cars) & have 200 shot on my truck, but I don't know much about these cars.

Anyway, my friend has an 04 SVT Focus & we were planning on putting a dry 75 shot on his car.

Just want to make a pass or 2 at the track against our friend with his turbo jetta LOL.

Do we need to change the plugs a step colder?..Heard the plugs on the SVT already came with colder ones stock..is this true?

How much can you spray (dry) on stock tune with 93 oct?

I know timing is usually set pretty low on stock tunes, so I was hoping we could get away with the 75..maybe throw 100 oct in there to be safe.

Thanks for the info.

Why is that? Can the MAF not adjust at all on these cars or what? Does it max out the injectors/fuel system on a 75 dry?

I would NOT do a dry shot on an SVT, actually, not a big fan of dry shots anyway, the max out most stock injectors.

The SVT's are far pickier on the spray than the zx3. Colder plugs, and a richer fuel pill than is called for on the wet system as well. I would REALLY recomend a tune for a 75 shot on that car...We have seen plenty of burnt valves on SVT's.

Thanks for the info. Seems dry isn't worth it..don't feel like buying bigger injectors & tune too much $$ just to make a few passes at the track.

How much bigger jets are yall going on the fuel side 1-2 steps?

Also, for the wet kit..Is there a fuel port on the rail already or do you have to make one by tapping into it?

care to explain your theory? ever seen a dry shot destroy an intake manifold and mafs as well as all the intake tubing form puddling up in the intake and igniting? the ONLY way i would run nitrous other than a dry shot would be if it were a speed density car or a direct port kit. dry nitrous sprayed through the mafs is much safer and easier than a wet kit drilled into the intake tubing. the mafs reads the denser air coming into the intake and tricks the computer into cold start mods and richens the fuel mixture itself. the only drawback to a dry kit is you cant spray it too close to the mafs or it will freeze the element then you run into problems. we have run dry nitrous on all my friends ls1 trans am's and lsx silverado's as well as my 2000 focus zx3 and my friends 2003 zx3 focus. never one problem at all. i had a NX incogneto 50hp dry kit on my 2000 zx3 and we put a compucar nitrous in a bag 40hp dry shot on my friends 2003 zx3 and it hauls ass!

these are the plugs you need. gap them around .035

nitrous line ran into the end of the filter on the 03 zx3

compucar nitrous in a bag

this is my friends 01 pewter silverado that went 13.01 on a 175hp dry shot with a slipping posi. he now has a 6.0L lq4 and a 4l80e with a new eaton posi and he is waiting to go back to the track to run it on the gas with the new setup.

Thanks gonz..

We will strap the dry kit on. Plugs are no more than 10 bucks and the dry kit is going on my truck as a second stage anyway.

Is there anyway to run the nitrous line to the engine without drilling any holes?

yes there is. we ran ours through the door jamb under the plastic door sill up into the dash and out thru the jamb into the engine bay under the wiper cowl. it sounds ghetto but its only a 1/8" id plastic line so its not noticeable at all. you can see the nitrous line behind his drivers seat in the rear floor board. when the nitrous isnt in the car we coil it up and ziptie it and leave it hidden under the drivers seat.
