FS Stage II W/ Garrett GT2871R

Allright, First I'm going to say that this is a pre-order post. I'm waiting to get some last information before i go ahead and order this kit. I'm planning on the Stage II Intercooled Kit, running the GT2871R. However i can not build my internals at this time. So is this to much for my motor to handle, or will i be okay? Secondly, what numbers would you guess my ST would be putting down to the wheels with this kit. And also, the last information im needing is. With this kit, whats the highest output i could push with built and balanced internals. I'll of course update this thread once i have the kit placed, and installed. But for now, i just want to be sure i order the best for my money.

Thanks alot for any information, i could really use some advice before i spend this much cash.

It will only be too much if you turn up the boost too much.....but that goes for any turbo on a stock block. I'm guessing the GT2871R won't spool as quickly as the GT28R and will probably be less fun to drive until you can turn up the boost on a built motor.

As far as output, FocusSport put down almost 400whp on their 2.0L Duratec with that exact same kit using the GT2871R.

So, in the long run it's the better Turbo to use?

Well.... sorta Everything in their motor was Cosworth

The basic kit will make more power than the stock engine can handle, if it was me I would NOT go any bigger than a GT28Rs.

^^I was referring to his question as to how much power it could make on a built motor. I like my GT2871R but can't say how it compares to the GT28RS.

To the original poster, FocusSport has tested quite a few of the Garrett turbos with their kit so they should be able to give you good advise on choosing a turbo for your goals.

I would call Randy at Focus sport if you are about to place an order. He will talk you through everything you need to know and not hassle you because of lack of knowlege. He helped me out a lot and I didn't even by my Turbo and intercooler from him.
