Quick Intercooler Question

Hey guys,

Long time reader - first time poster.

Great site.

quick intro, im from Australia and i have a 2002 2.0 Zetec-E engined 3door Euro Spec Focus. which is my daily driver.

Anywho.

Im looking at installing a turbo kit. i have spoken to many performance shops and they have all said the same thing (which is perfectly fine).

They have given me a list of parts needed for the conversion. i have read many of the turbo threads on here and they where much help.

Its probably a silly quesion but id still like to ask it, aftter all its normally the silly ones that are the most important.

In regards to the Intercooler kits off ebay, NOT the turbo kits. i am well aware of the dodgy turbos on ebay. But i am interested in the Intercooler kits. Are they of any decent quality. i am only looking at running 7psi. and i mean it. my weekend car suffices more than enough for boost (Ford Focus F6 Typhoon).

I would just like to know if the intercooler kit ie:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...068801828&rd=1

is suitable for a 7psi daily.

Thanks in advance.

No the only quality problem was the rubber connectors they sent. Had to upgrade to silicone. (Planned on doing that anyway)

I have 2.5" alum piping, made the cuts and fabbed together a good kit. The IC works well keeping my IAT's about 5 degree's above outside air temp

Running 10-11psi right now plan to be 15psi soon if I can get a few other problems fixed

Yer mate. Rwd, she is pumping out 344 RWKW last time i had her dynoed.

Might be upgrading to the stage 4 kit 450RWK. But dunno if the missus will let me hahaha.

but yer. onto the focus LOL. How long do the conversions on the car last. i had a guy from a workshop who works on the Cosworth RS' and Seirra RS" that they import to aus, and he told me that the turbo conversion wouldnt last too long on the Zetec engine, probably about a year before you have to rebuild it and put lower compresion pistons and steel rods in it?

Any thruth to this.

Ohh here is a Youtube vid of an XR6Turbo Ford Falcon (cheaper model) on the dyno. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=kF5l34Idiq4

they run turbo kits on the zetecs here for years with no problems,,just depends on how much boost,,from what ive read the zetecs can handle about 10-12 psi stock,,,and the duratecs around the same
