is there any cheaper alternatives? That seems like its easier to just build your engine and turbo it and all that.

build your own turbo kit out of junkyard parts and ebay. let me fill you in on something. horsepower is not cheap. i dont care what ebay says. here is a good rule to remember...

good, fast, and cheap.
you may pick any 2.
if its cheap and fast it wont be good
if its good and fast it wont be cheap
if its cheap and good it wont be fast

everyone wants to go out cheap on boost. the problem is if it was cheap everyone would do it. this is not the department you want to go cheap on. custom dyno tuning alone can cost hundreds of dollars. save your money or just buy a nitrous kit.

you could search for a couple build threads in here, like Sporadic's good parts lists to get you started. building your own turbo is fun but it will cost you more than ya think and you won't save much in the long run.
Mine so far is up to about $2580.00 give or take, still have 900 - 1200 let to go . so be realistic at what you can afford.
good luck & do lots of research, lots of good info. in here

Just make sure to set aside some "rainy day" money. You can have the safest setup in the world and still blow an engine.
