The quick and dirty answer is:

turbos are run off of your exhaust gas. Because of this they can (depending on turbo size) take a bit to "spool up". They have to get spinning to make their power

Superchargers are run off a belt. You have immediate power, but they are parasitic - ie. the turbo is spun up using a waste product, but the supercharger takes some power away from the engine to do it.

Turbos tend to have a higher ceiling of power.

superchargers use power to make power. they pull power off the crank by a belt to spin the supercharger. turbo's are spun by used exhaust leaving the manifold. turbos are capable of higher power at the same boost levels as a charger but they both have pros and cons. turbos usually consist of alot more parts and they generate a ton of heat, they also lag until the turbo is spooled up enough to build boost. depending on the size of the turbo some lag less than others but with bigger turbos comes bigger power. they are both rather expensive. there are also 2 types of superchargers. a roots type, which sits atop the intake manifold and has a screw or twin screws inside forcing the air in. these are the blowers more commonly seen on factory and hot rod cars such as the 2003-04 mustang cobra and 99+ lightnings as well as high end luxury sports cars such as mercedes benz and land rovers. then there are centrifugal superchargers which are shaped like a turbo only instead of an impellar ran off of exhaust they have a pulley that runs off of a belt. they usually are bracketed to the engine and are about the size of an alternator. roots style blowers usually make more low end torque and centrifugal chargers usually make more peak hp but turbos usually have the best of both worlds.
