Nitrous with ATX???????

I've noticed that most on here that are running Nitrous have manual transmissions.....I've seen a couple with Automatics though.

My question is how reliable do you think the stock tranny will be with a 50 shot Zex kit????
I know that the motor can handle it all day but I would love to hear some opinions on how the ATX will hold up, or even better hear from those with ATX's and hear how they've held up for them.

I asked this in the Nitrous sticky but nobody's replied so I figured I'd start my own thread on it.

Thanks in advance for any replies........

It's safe to say you'll be fine on a 50 shot. Some say you can even get up to a 75 shot, but when I get my nitrous, hopefully by the end of the summer, I probably won't run over a 50shot until I can back up the tranny a little bit.

Billy (SquillyB) can probably answer all of your questions about running nitrous on an ATX. He's got quite a nice setup and more in the works.

And hell, you'll be one of the first people running nitrous with the 08. Good luck.

Thanks for the comments........anyone else care to chime in.

I found an old Car and Driver story were they did a 75 shot on a 2.0 Focus and said that the ATX seemed to have a hard time finding what gear it needed to be in and that over time this would lead to issues with the ATX. They were using it from a dead stop though.....

I don't plan on using Nitrous in first gear at all, only towards the top end of RPM range in second, and then 3k to 6k in third thru fifth just to keep it safe. I figure the ATX will handle it a lot better once everything's already in motion anyways.
