JRSC Regrets?

Thinking about boosting my SVTF, but I'm not sure how I want to do it yet...I do know I don't want to go turbocharged, so I'm stuck between the JRSC and the Procharger kit. I drive my focus every day...it's my only car. I need the car to be streetable all the time, in any weather (including snow). I know the car will never be FAST, but I would like to get somewhere in the mid 13s if possible. I like the simple bolt-on installation of the JRSC kit, and the fact that it comes with everything needed to install and run, unlike the Procharger kits that require additional things like MAF sensor, Injectors, custom tuning (stock ECU? I'm not sure), etc. I just know that I'd be angry/disappointed if I spent $3k and didn't get that goal as far as 1/4 mile times. Is the Procharger kit worth the extra money/effort, especially for an all-weather daily driver? Do any of you JRSC owners wish you would have gone with the more powerful Procharger system?

what you can do is get teh jrsc, and ahve tom make you a tune for it. also getting cam gears and timing the stock cams properly hepls a crap ton it the delivery department. you may also want to consider gettign a limited slip diff (its a good idea regardless acutally) and a bbk version should get you the numbers you want.

if it's going to help you, I'm from Canada (Calgary/Alberta) and don't have any problems to run it when it's cold/snow or rain.....with PC you will need Injectors and tune (but this one shouldbe done even if you buy a JRSC and want it faster) and either 3" mAF tube or MAFia.....

I dont know much about the focus, but I absolutley loved the feeling of stopping the gas on a pontiac with a roots type sc, thats what a JRSC is, although it does eventually hit a flat spot especially with a manual tranny and high rpms

For the tune, is the stock ECU good enough? Do you need to get a standalone unit or a programmer?

You need a flasher (SCT,Predator...) to reflash stock ECU....

I know it's not a SVT but my P/W Zetec is run every day and that's in some -35 C weather with no issues.

Off topic, sort of.
What year GTP did you have?
I had a monster '98 GTP. I miss it, but I love the way my ZX3 handles and rides.
The JRSC is sitting on my tool box waiting to be installed.

I think it was a 1999 or 2000, it had a LED boost gauge right in the computer screen type deal in the center of the dash, yeah that car would haul, and it handled alright too...to bad the door panels started falling apart along with basically the whole interior, i think every pontiac car I have been in has done this though, I think the focus even though much cheaper is much better quality

negitive ghost rider!

for one. the JRSC is great for the SVTF. but the BBK JRSC will only net you about prolly 210WHP even with a custom tune.

the cam gear thing. youll only be able to get one one cam gear. the exhuast side gear. just use that to dial out any overlap in the valves from intake to exhuast to avoid loosing boost blow thru or w/e u wanna call it.

and the stock diff will do fine. idk where thats coming from. ull just have a lil wheel spin if your decide to do a burnout straight outta a park spot or on a left or right turn onto a road. but when u rip down some twisties it will be fine. then again if its your daily driver you wouldnt be beating on it all the time and will be fine.

a BBK JRSC will prolly run a 14 flat. youll need prolly id say about 260whp to cut a 13.5 (a powerwork SVT kit would put u near that). a JRSC BBK zx3 non svt runs about a 14.5 at 185ish WHP.

so in the end. id say skip the roots type blower all tegether!!!

GET A VORTECH!!!!
