Talking Boosted2nr: The Build Thread (yet another)

Yet another build thread. They are so fun though, I can't resist. They also give great feedback and ideas.

On to the build:

The goal: Build a very quick spooling turbo setup without draining the wallet (budget NOT cheap). I want to retain the stock motor to save some points when classifying and for cost reasons (small Navy salary LOL). This setup is going to be used for amateur Time Trial, AutoX, and Road Racing. The car is my daily driver for another 2-3 years so I am not doing a major build just yet. So far I'm planning on pushing 11-12lbs of boost on the track and 8lbs for tooling around town.

The Parts:
14B turbo from a 2g Eclipse. *purchased*
Turbonetics 35mm External Wastegate
RFL BOV *purchased*
2.25” Turbo to IC *purchased*
2.5” IC to TB *purchased*
Front Mount IC *purchased*
Stock Engine *duh*
2K IM *purchased*
65MM TB *purchased*
42lb or 60lb injectors (not sure which one yet)
TurboSmart Boost Controller *purchased*
2.5” DP and Exhaust *purchased*
Diablo MAFia *purchased*
Other misc stuff ...

Time line: I plan on finishing this by the time the Carlisle All Ford comes to town June 6-8. This of course is volatile, due to my Navy training schedule and the fact that my base is in the middle of nowhere LOL.

So some beginning pics:

Day 1

Day 2:
Worked on some of the wiring, welded the internal wastegate flapper and installed the second slim fan.

I cleaned it up after this pic was taken [

Today is day three so I'll post up some pics later.

Any Comments or Suggestions during this build will be greatly appreciated!

Day 3:
It was kind of a lazy day for me, didn't get a lot of true work done. Tacked up the manifold to test the fit, reassembled the turbo, and ran/tucked the fan wiring.

There you go until tomm.

Im at the Dahlgren Naval Surface Warfare Center in Virginia now. I can't wait to get it on the dyno hopefully before June. Better start picking up the pace LOL.

I had a turbo on there before with a built engine. I was pushing about 285whp. It was fun but the spool took a while to come on which is why I am going with a smaller turbo this time.

Modified Shorty. Kind of hard to tell in the pic but I angled the turbo away from the block and out of the way of the AC compressor. I kept the old 3 bolt flange on there for mounting and bracing that I am adding.

Bad weekend, damn duty days. Was able to mount the intercooler and create the new engine ground and cleaned up a lot of the old wiring.

Just a single pic:

More pics:
Hot pipe and DP are tacked. Finished the brackets for the IC and changed the angle a bit about 10deg.
