svt supercharger & mpg

Hey Y'all,
I am looking at a 02 svt Focus with the jackson super charger. We are wondering what the ramifications of this mod is.. ie is it hard on the stock engine and how will it effect the MPG vs non super charged MPG. Or is this something I should stay away from??

By the way what kind of fuel mileage are you guys getting with your svts?

Just trying to make a good buying decision. Thanks for the help!

Vinny

I don't have Jackson Racing, but Procharger, but my MPG is +/- the same as before IF I'm NOT using boost....on HWY is can be slightly better becase 6th gear can be used sooner and there is no need to downshift if you want to pass like a normal person somebody ;-) BUT......if you have a boost...you will be using it ;_) trust me ;-) and then.... ;-))))))))))))

JRSC will be fine for your engine. There are a few on here 100k plus with turbo/supercharged motors.

If the JRSC doesn't have the BBK then thats even less stress on the engine

I don't know about everyone else but in cold weather, 65% city driving I only get 22mpg MAX with my NA SVT.

From what I hear the SC will only knock 1-2mpg off if that (assuming you're being nice to it) and I wouldn't worry about a JRSC hurting your engine unless someone has put incorrect pullies on, but even then it's not a big concern.

it depends on how you want to drive lol, with a good tune you should get good mileage... now that depends on how heavy your foot is

Moved to Forced Induction Chat...
You'll find (and get) your supercharger answers there.

As far as gas mileage for NA cars, I highly suggest you do a quick search in the SVT area.
There's at least a dozen threads on the topic.

I put the JRSC + BBK on my '02 SVTF just over 2 years ago and have not regretted it for even a moment. If you drive the car normally, it stays in vacuum and you wouldn't even know it's boosted. Give it some juice though and off you go. The stock motor and this kit were made for each other.

Of course, condition of the drivetrain is relative to how the previous owner took care of it and how it's tuned, which is true of all setups. But if it's done right, should last for a long time, as others on this board can verify.

And as far as mpg goes, sorry, can't give you hard numbers here. I don't seem to tank-up any more frequently than before the install, but then again, I didn't buy the car with that goal in mind. Still gets better mpg than a lot of vehicles out there.

If it's nice, buy it and have fun!
