No Tune For The Old Guy

I called Tom (Focus Power) to discuss a tune for my SVTF with JRSC+BBK (currently no other engine mods). After weighing all the facts, Tom suggested that I would be better off staying with the Ford Racing tune. Here are the factoids as I recall them:
1) I would gain approximately 10-15 HP in the higher RPM range. Since I rarely go above 6,000 RPM, this would not be much of an advantage.
2) I don’t race, but simply like the extra punch “on demand”. There’s nothing like a good kick in the posterior when you jam the pedal to the metal. While a few more HP would be nice, it gets very costly to gain them.
3) The total cost for additional equipment and the tune would be about $1,500 (J&S Safeguard, Predator, A-F Wideband, Tune). That’s mucho dinero (about $100-150 per HP, whereas the JRSC+BBK cost about $60 per HP)! As Tom said, “You probably would want to spend the money elsewhere”.
The bottom line: A tune would be nice. But based on the way that I drive, and what kind of performance I desire, it would be difficult to cost-justify spending the coin to get a few more ponies.
Many thanks to Tom for his honest evaluation and recommendations!

If you get more mods like Adjustable cam gears, Full exhaust, internals, diff tb or other major mods. Yeah get a tune but with everything stock but the sc no.

I talked to him also, and gave him a list of the modifications I was going to do(NA build) and he took the time with me to explain the things he would change and the reason why. It really surprised me in a good way, you typically dont find people willing to give you information and spend time helping you out with just a simple phone call, this was the first time I ever talked to him too.

After that I decided he was going to be the one who tunes my car if he is willing and if I ever get around to doing my build, Ive heard some pretty awesome stories about the effects of his tunes....

Yeah though with the mods you got he is right, its probably not worth it, once you start adding more mods I would think about it though, like ^^^ said
