startup issues w/boost....what is your opinion?

so I've had these start up issues for quite a while now, but since I don't drive my Focus everyday anymore and w/other things keeping me busy, i've been avoiding it.....but here it goes....

my car when warm does NOT have any startup issues whatsoever.....but once it goes cold, it takes a good five minutes to get it going normally again....but again, once it's warm it acts like it doesn't have any issues....

basically it started doing that when I took a turbo kit (old one) that was manufactured by Turbo Tom, hacked off some pipe and put the maf close to the TB so I could be a blow through setup....ever since then, even after tuning it has had the startup issues...

my first assumption was that the maf, tb and bov was too close to each other and the problem didn't start until we changed the location of the maf.....

but once again, when it's warmer it all goes away and acts normal.

so here are some pics.....and lemme know what you all think..

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...e/HPIM2151.jpg

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...e/HPIM2150.jpg

would this be the issue? or is it a tuning issue that can be sorted out as long as I get it looked while it is dead cold?

i'd rather not reroute all of my piping if I don't have to, but if it comes down to that to have a good running car on a constant basis i'll do so......especially since the warmer months are coming around, i've been cravin to drive my boosted foci, but not at the expense of taking 5 minutes to start my car everytime I park it lol..

anyways, lemme know what you all think : )

thanks fellas

btw, if you all bounce from board to board, I did post on FJ, but I know there are some people that are pretty knowledgable that don't get on that site so I wanted to get some of your opinions : )

did you change from suck to blow through? you would need a re-tune if you did since the iat will be different...

if I had to guess, the tuner either forgot about or didnt spend time with the low rpm open loop values during the tuning process... just a guess. It's hard to tune for this situation since it takes like, 5 hours for the car to get cold.

it was changed over (before) it was tuned.....he didn't tune on a cold start, basically I would've been sitting there for two hours because of how hot it was outside just waitin around..

what i'm wondering is if I can just get it tuned w/the way the setup is now, or should I try to make my piping where the maf is longer so I can spread things out a lil bit....I just want it to where it starts up each and every time w/o any issues

I think that you should have more space before and after the MAF. At least 6 inches on both sides. Also could have a VAC leak somewhere, sometimes when it is cold out gaskets shrink up and when the car warms up it expands and seals up.
