You can run it without an intercooler for low boost levels (under 8psi) but everything else is needed except the MAFia. A draw through MAF setup would be cheaper than a blow-through and an internal wastegate setup would be cheaper than an external one.

this sounds like a recipe for diamond plate floor boards flying off, granny shfting and not double clutching.

typically boost and minimal things arent the best to have in the same sentence.

either boost it right or dont boost it at all. theres no sense in turning another 4cyl car in the world into a ricer so all the muscle guys can point and laugh at you.

people like john and Tom have done turboing right, as well as alot more members here, they did the research, did the hard work, tuned it right even though it took forever.

theres no sense in half assing something, you'll end up blowing your engine up because you skimmped on a boost controller then you'll post 80 million threads why you have oil leaking out of a softball size hole in the side of your block and it sounds like your engine is knocking on wood for good luck.

i feal if you plan on doing anything major, as in huge internal work or even boost, even at minimal boost, you need to research, research and research more, so that way you know the in's and outs

go look at the bizzilion pictures on the internet of turbokits, and compare them all, learn about them, learn what turbo MANIFOLD is best, what filter, intercoolers turbo timers, boost controllers etc etc.

again, dont half ass it, thats what your trying to do, actually minimal classifies as half of a half assing it in the turbo world in my book. so you in my book are 1/4 assing it.

either do it right or stay NA

and, there is no such thing as a focus color called pepsi blue.

/end rant

wow thanks for the sig honhon I hope you dont mind lol

However funny it is I agree 99.9% with that post, except there is sometimes something to be said for a well done 10psi kit. Some people con only afford a IHI on a stock motor, but if they do it right and get it tuned well then they are +1 in my book.

PS honhon wtf are you doing in FI chat???? lol

your welcome for the signature lol.

i understand the money part of it, completely, its just it seems like a backyard turbo with PVC intercooler piping just so they can hear a whistle when they shift. lol

and ive been collecting information and lurking around in FI because i am going to help with what i can to help Jim(roushturbozx3) make a top mount manifold for a duratec, i have a 2.3L head sitting on my kitchen counter and a stock exhaust manifold at my work, im gonna cut the flange off the stock manifold, and probably let him borrom the head for alittle while, so he can fab up a top mount, and then ill go from there with turbo selection, intercooler pipes, DP fabrication, intercooler, injectors etc etc. and ill probably have CFM tune it for me.
my power goal if i go turbo is about 225whp. nothing big, but with tq closely following that, it'll be a good ride for me. lol

so... there very well may be a turbo kit in the works for my car, and ive been reading a bit, such as blow through etc etc.

hey, im at 5k!
