Arrow Great SC/TC Info!!

I haven't seen it posted on here before, so I'm posting this site to help people learn about the different superchargers on the market. Here it is.. www.coloradocobras.com
I don't know about the rest of you, but I've had a hard time finding a good site to explain the differences between say a roots SC and a screw type (etc.). This is one of the best I've found, and has convinced me to get a Whipple SC if I can get one for my Focus. Enjoy the plethora of knowledge my fellow drivers!!

Also, I'm bouncin' around like I've gotta take a big ole beer piss 'cause I'm so anxious to get a SC on my Focus. Any help people can share with me about the subject would be greatly appreciated. You can see my parts below. What else should I get if I want at least 200whp? Say, rods, pistons, and 24lb injectors (maybe larger injector?)? If you can, please help this freckled white boy out!! lol (aside from new intake...I know, I know...believe me...I know)
BTW: I want my power in the low-mid rpm range.

well you can make 200whp lots of differnt ways, you can do all motor, which doesnt make a very good street car, or FI either of the super or turbo paths, ideally turbo is the path of least resistance, however i myself am fond of superchargers as well, and lets face it the sandard JRSC M45 isnt cutting it, and good luck on the Whipple, or Kenne Bell, though i would love one of these myself, i dont see it happening as a bolt on kit anytime soon, the Vortech albeit pricey right now, has some hope, and i think the M62 does as well though it would take some modifying and custom work, is this a long term project or do you want to make power RIGHT NOW?

my Crane stage 1's will be here on Oct.7 and I'm having them installed with gears on 18th (hopefully, if my shop's open Saturday). How long it takes to supercharge all depends on what other parts I need to buy before I can add the SC. From what I can tell, larger injectors is all I really "need" unless I need fuel pump, fuel rail, titanium valves, pistons, rods, etc. (I think a year sounds about right...$3000 isn't easy for me to convince myself to just come off of...I'll need much more $$ before I drop that pocket change). The M45 just won't cut it for me. Money talks, so I think I can have someone like Whipple custom build one for me if they aren't mass producing them yet or JR M62 like you mentioned...it's just about the dollars to get them motivated for me.
BTW: I don't like the Vortech...it's odd turbo design isn't appealing to me, plus, it's just a "blower" right? I like the screw type because it compresses the air, has smoother airflow, and creates less heat (it's also closer to the engine to increase these attributes).
(off topic): I think the "screw type" is what someone would want if they were experimenting with duel SC on their car, although a single SC is capable of a lot of boost! The second SC would have to be tough and so would the intake manifold....just a thought.

yeh iv been wanting a kenne bell myself, but i dont see them making a bolt on kit anytime soon, youll probably want to build the tranny as well, and w/ injectors might as well get a 70mm MAF calibrated for them

I drive a manual...I don't really need to work on it do I? (although I'd bet that the third gear wears out soon! It will stock too)....forgot about 70mm MAF, I'm definately getting that!

well if you plan on maing decent power, and your making good tourque, a tranny build is nessecary, and by that i mean clutch, LSD for traction, and a light weight flywheel helps too, you may want to go w/ 4.06 gears while your there too

I'm going to replace my clutch and flywheel when I burn my stock one out, and LSD could be further down the road since I'll probably spend my money on some airbags and 18in rims first (maybe 17, but I want 18...spinners of course which may have to be custom drilled). No one in my city's got this!! Mostly old guys drive the focus around here and I've only seen one SVT driven by the same.

GonFishin,

I'd do some more homework before you make a choice. First off, a screw type SC is not more efficient than a Centrifugal type SC (Vortech or Procharger for example). Second, they usually bolt right on the motor, so they are going to get hot as hell. Third, because of the way they mount, you most likely will not have an option for an intercooler or aftercooler which I feel should be a necessity on a street driven vehicle. They are good for low rpm boost though, just not the most efficient. When I say efficient, I mean amount of airflow vs temperature. Sure, you'll have fun with one but it won't perform better than a turbo or centrifugal SC.
