Exclamation Low Budget Boost

im good with a wrench but i havent had the pleasure of working with a boosted car....

so i cant afford to buy a turbo kit, and im planning to build one....not looking to change internals until the car is paid for and i get another motor to work with....plus theres not too many hondas around here that can keep up with me now and all i have under the hood is a CAI...sometimes i think i want the turbo just to say i have one...and the BOV scares old people and pedestrians...hahaha....

I was looking into a Garrett T28 with ceramic turbine....im told it would produce up to 200hp on a smaller 1.5L motor....so i guess the question here is how much power do you think it would make with my 2.0 Zetec?

I know i need the basics, Turbo, oil line, intercooler, injectors, exhaust, piping and a few gauges to make it all work....

planning to use OBX header and cat bacc exhaust (again...this is a low budget project) would the turbo be to low on the car to feed the oil bacc to the pan?

what size injectors should i use?

this project so far has a total cost of about $1000....heres what im lookin at

turbo 100
manifold flange 20
BOV 50
intercooler 150
piping 150
couplers 50
oil feed line 25
oil return line 25
complete exhaust with mil elim 480
$1050

still need to find injectors and am completely lost about tuning....

Expect to pay $500+ for tuning, hopefully including something like an SCT xcalibrator II.
Tons of little stuff will add up VERY fast, such as NPT and AN fittings/adapters, T-bolt clamps, general worm clamps, vac nipples, nuts/bolts, paint (if you paint anything), vac tubing, air filter, etc.

I went about as inexpensive as one can go without going "cheap".
Don't confuse the two.
I did all my fabrication, bought used where I could, but didn't go cheap on the tune.
I figure my cost is around $2,000 but still need to add up receipts.
That doesn't include the $250 wideband I'm about to purchase.
I think my thread (a few below this) is a good place for you to look.

Oh, and expect to install some poly motor mounts or something to control wheel hop.

Minimum you are going to spend on getting everything is 2500 if you build your own. That's with the "next best thing" mentality. Meaning that you buy the second in line rather than the best there is.

And everyone seems to forget the clutch. There is no way to "cheap out" on that one.

Why you don't look around into buy-sell section, ebay etc ? I was able to buy my PC setup for $1500 but still ended up to spent more ...wideband, J&S, tune, Predator......... ;-)

ah you are incorrect there... to a point. if you are a good wrench then cheap boost is very poosible. find a used volvo turbo or something of the sort then fab up the plumbing. you could just run it uninnercooled. but if you wanted to cool it find a innercooler from a factory turboed car and plumb that in the system

now crazy boost like 250hp+ is going to cost you money.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2218783/2

that is a perfect of cheap boost
