fuel starvation problems

ok, with the return system using the evap return line there have been problems with fuel starvation when the fuel level gets below 2/3 of a tank. i know that tom has been thinking of ways to fix this. just wondering if any one has tried this....

http://toyotaperformance.com/surge_tank.htm

a serge tank.

I read that the prob is not in the starvation, its in that the car acceleration too fast that all of the gas gets pushed away from the pump. I say use a cell.

You may see if an 03+ Cobra fuel tank will fit... they have built in baffles plus they are set up for 2 fuel pumps. There are also a few posts over on one of the Mustang Forums telling you how to actually use both pumps and run a duel Fuel pump controller set up.

well it is starving for fuel because of the acceleration. the pump cant get any fuel. this would make it possible to use the fuel in the can before it runs out.

i will look into it but it seems like it would be a lot cheaper to do this. im sure it wouldnt work as good. but im sure a cobra tank is pretty expensive.

A surge tank would probably be your best bet. I have a friend with a 500hp rx7 that has one. Would take care of your problems with fuel starvation for sure.

The surge tank isnt a bad idea

It need a lot to get it to work tho
A second fuel pump
Regulator
Hoses and fittings
Fuel rail

If your going through all this trouble then why not just buy a fuel cell its the only thing not on the list to do a complete return fuel system

Tom

i plan to do this i would go with a cell but i would like to keep my stock fuel gauge and its a bit safer with the stock tank on the street where my car spends 98% of its time ;)

You can get a cell that will fit right in the spare tire hole. Then smooth it off and carpet back over it cutting a hole for the filler.
